Meta AI Now Dubs Instagram and Facebook Reels in Hindi
Meta is adding Hindi dubbing for Reels on Instagram and Facebook. Now, creators can use AI to translate their Reels into Hindi before they post. Earlier, Meta only had dubbing in English and Spanish. Now Hindi and Portuguese are available too.
Adam Mosseri talked about this update on Instagram. He said most videos are in languages people don't speak. But they may still want to watch. He showed how his own video could be dubbed into Hindi and other languages using Meta AI. Mark Zuckerberg also shared a similar demo.

Meta says the AI copies the real voice of the creator. It tries to keep the tone and sound natural. This helps the Reel sound like the person actually said those words in Hindi. There is also a lip-sync option. If creators turn this on, the audio matches their mouth movements. It looks more real when viewers watch.
Every Reel that gets dubbed with Meta AI will show a label. That label says “Translated with Meta AI.” This way, viewers know that AI helped make the video. People watching can choose if they want the translation. They can turn it off or watch the original language. Go into the three-dot settings, pick Audio and Language, then select “Don’t translate” to keep it in the original voice.
YouTube also lets creators dub videos. But Instagram’s AI dubbing has a clear label and more viewer control. On YouTube, only creators can turn off dubbing. Viewers don’t get a quick switch like Instagram’s update.
Meta only gives this dubbing feature to creators with more than 1,000 followers for now. If you use Facebook or Instagram and you’re in a country where Meta AI is available, you can try the Hindi dubbing.
When uploading, you’ll see a new button: “Translate your voice with Meta AI.” Click this, pick if you want lip-sync turned on or off. You can preview the Reel before posting to check the translation. Meta sends a notification. You get to approve or change the translation before your Reel goes live.
Meta wants more people to watch Reels in their own languages. Hindi dubbing makes it easier for viewers who don’t speak English. It also helps creators reach new audiences, especially in India. No matter what language people prefer, the option is now there. That’s how Meta’s new feature works — simple, direct, and easy for everyone.
