Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Closed Beta Announced – Dates, Characters, and How to Join

Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls Closed Beta

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, that new fighter from Arc System Works, is on almost every fighting game fan’s radar. Just announced last weekend at EVO 2025, we’re getting a closed beta run for PlayStation 5 only, from September 5th to the 7th. And if you’re on PC, you’ll have to wait until launch in 2026. The game isn’t even out yet, and already you can feel that Marvel vs. Capcom-era nostalgia mixed with anime flair.

What Is Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls?

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is a new 2.5D tag fighter, cooked up by ArcSys—those same folks behind Guilty Gear and Dragon Ball FighterZ—plus PlayStation Studios and Marvel Games. The game feels like a love letter to Marvel’s history in fighters but pushes the tag system even further. Instead of 2v2 or 3v3, you get full-blown 4v4 chaos. It’s not just about swapping in your reserve; you start each match with one fighter and one assist, then unlock your full team of four as you rack up “Wall Breaks” and other milestones. Teams share a health bar called the Vital Gauge. There’s a meter for flashy EX skills, and yes, everyone’s got cartoonish Ultimates—think Iron Man blasting through a whole stage, or Ms. Marvel suddenly embiggening and slamming the ground. The visuals? Classic Marvel look, with that Japanese anime twist. Characters look straight off a comic page, but you can definitely see ArcSys’ fingerprints on every frame.

Even Spider-Man looks buffer than usual. Some say too much, but honestly, it’s fun seeing these characters reimagined. Game’s got assists, “assemble” mechanics, and a combo system that feels built to let pros cook, while still letting new folks mash and have a blast.

On Twitter, @gwrldgames shared that Marvel Games just announced a new fighting game called Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. The game will feature 4v4 tag team battles and is coming out in 2026 for both PS5 and PC

How to Sign Up for the Closed Beta

  • Go to the Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls page on the official PlayStation Store (do this from a browser—way easier).

  • Scroll down to the “Closed Beta” section; you’ll spot the “Register Now” button.

  • Hit that button and fill out the PlayStation Beta registration form. It’ll probably ask what genres you love—just answer honestly.

  • You MUST have a PS5 and an active PlayStation Network account to get in—if you’re not on PlayStation, this isn’t for you yet.

  • Sony will email codes to some (not all) registrants before September 5. The email might go to spam, so check every folder.

  • If you’ve signed up for the PlayStation Beta Program before, you may be auto-registered, so you could hit an “already registered” error—that’s normal.

  • There’s no guarantee you get in (lots of people told me they missed past betas); codes are limited.

Features and Playable Characters

Now the main course: what’s actually playable in the beta? It’s a taste, not a feast, but still — you get:

Six fighters: Iron Man, Doctor Doom, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, Storm, and Captain America.

The Twitter post from @FGC_Daily is sharing big news about the Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls game. It's announcing that the game’s closed beta will happen on PlayStation 5 from September 5 to September 7. During this beta, players will be able to try out six characters: Captain America, Iron Man, Storm, Star-Lord, Ms. Marvel, and Doctor Doom. Basically, it’s a heads-up for fighting game fans to mark their calendars and get ready to test the game out before its official release.

New York stage (Marvel version—lots of colors, billboards, classic vibe).

Online matches, offline lobbies, a training mode to mess with movesets, and longtime fighting game favorite: spectator mode.

On Twitter, @Jivesh1995 shared a tweet about Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls closed beta starts September 5, only on PS5. You can play limited offline and online matches, there’s rollback netcode for better online play, and you can watch others with spectator mode. The game is being made for PS5 and PC by Arc System Works.

Rollback netcode. Finally, a Marvel fighter launching with netcode that actually works—ArcSys heard the complaints from last gen.

And in the full game, the current character reveals hint at a massive roster. Already confirmed are Spider-Man, Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes version!), and a few more. Marvel purists might gripe that the selection is mostly big names, but the devs promise deep cuts are coming soon, with the game getting lots of support for up to 10 years. The anime-inspired graphics really bring out everybody’s powers in a way even longtime fans will appreciate.
