Is Arc Raiders Crossplay?
Arc Raiders officially launches with full crossplay support, a word that gets thrown around a lot these days but genuinely matters when the squad’s split across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. So the good news is, yes, teams can assemble, no matter what platform everyone’s on. No one’s left out of the party because of hardware choices. This isn’t just a bullet point in the marketing, either. Squad up, dive in, and the game won’t care if your friends are holding a controller, a keyboard, or perhaps tragically a potato PC running on sheer optimism.
There is a catch, and it’s the sort that makes console shooters collectively sigh. Although Arc Raiders has full crossplay, it doesn’t offer “console-only” crossplay. In plain English, that means if you turn on crossplay, you will face off against everyone, mouse-wielding PC snipers included. Some folks love the mixed pool (more players = faster matches, more chaos, always surprising who you’ll end up with). Others grumble because playing against a sweaty PC squad has all the appeal of walking barefoot through Lego bricks. And yes, cheaters are a real worry on PC. Can’t sugarcoat that part, although the developers swear by their anti-cheat tech. Still, there’s always that one guy whose aim is suspiciously perfect at 3 AM.
Now, if you’d rather just keep things on your own turf, Arc Raiders lets you switch crossplay off. Do that, and matchups stick to your home platform, so PlayStation matches with PlayStation, Xbox with Xbox, and so on. But don’t look for a “console bros only” option; the slider’s either on or off. A little annoying, but it’s meant to keep matchmaking quick and healthy. Less time waiting, more time getting roasted (or hopefully, getting sweet revenge).
Progression isn’t left behind, either. Thanks to Embark ID, your gear and stats move with you if you switch platforms. Buy the game on more than one device and pick up right where you left off. Pretty handy for nomads, platform hoppers, or those who just upgrade mid-season and don’t want to start fresh. Gamepad support is universal, one less thing to stress about on day one.
Glancing at the community’s mood, reactions run the gamut: half the player base is just happy to have crossplay at all, the other half is already plotting anti-cheat spreadsheets or posting “console player looking for squad, no PC tryhards allowed” memes. That’s the modern multiplayer experience, in a nutshell. Grab some friends maybe stretch first, because these extraction shooters can get tense, and give matchmaking a whirl. If nothing else, Arc Raiders certainly doesn’t force anyone to game alone.
