Akhanda 2 was first planned for a big theatrical release on 5 December 2025. Advance plans were done and paid premiere shows were also lined up.
On the same day the makers suddenly pulled back the release. They issued a statement to fans and said this was a painful call.
The note mentioned unavoidable reasons and promised that the film would come to theatres soon once things were resolved. So from that moment the movie officially shifted into postponed status.

But the production house has not posted any official poster with 12 December printed on it.
At the same time another group of reports suggests that the team may take the safer Christmas weekend around 25 December. From a box office point of view this window gives a festival boost and a longer holiday period.
Trade trackers say both 12 December and the Christmas weekend are under discussion inside the team. So in short there are strong industry hints but zero formal confirmation till now.
Why the Movie was Delayed?
Multiple articles point to money issues at the producer side. Old dues linked to earlier projects reportedly caused a cash crunch.
There is also mention of a legal dispute involving Eros International and other financial partners.
A report says the Madras High Court stayed the release of Akhanda 2 due to this dispute. Till the case and payments are handled the team cannot go ahead with a clean release.
This is why the last minute shows were cancelled despite all the hype.
Role of Balakrishna and the Team
Nandamuri Balakrishna is said to be actively involved in solving the crisis. Reports say he agreed to roll back a big part of his remuneration to reduce pressure on the producers.
This kind of support makes it easier for the banner to clear dues and negotiate with financiers.
The director Boyapati Sreenu and the rest of the team are waiting for a clear legal green signal. Only after that they can shift focus fully to promotions and theatre agreements.
