The film opens in the 1990s with Surya struggling to complete his landmark 100th film as his budget runs dry and support evaporates, until a mysterious fan deposits three crore rupees to save the project. Surya's journey to find this devoted benefactor becomes the bridge into Sagar's life, a young man from a remote island village near Rajahmundry who pledges all his savings on Surya, gets into frequent brawls with rival fans, and forsakes his future for the man he believes breathed life into his own existence.
The narrative is set between 1987 and 2002 in a village lacking proper electricity, where Sagar falls in love with Mahalakshmi, played by Bhagyashri Borse, the daughter of an influential theatre owner Purushottam who looks down upon the very audience whose patronage he feeds on.
When Purushottam repeatedly humiliates Sagar and opposes their relationship, Sagar challenges him by declaring he will build a theatre in his own village by the time Surya releases his 100th film.
The film explores how Sagar's devotion to his idol intertwines with his love story and his fight against class discrimination, as he mobilizes villagers, earns money through touring talkies, and attempts the seemingly impossible task he has set for himself.
The climax brings these parallel journeys together during a flood, where Sagar makes a serious sacrifice for Surya, a man he has never met, finally leading to an extraordinary meeting between the star and his most devoted fan.
