Is Apple TV Down Right Now? There's a Problem Loading This Content Error on Apple TV

Yep, Apple TV totally face-planted last night. You probably noticed if you were one of the 14,000+ folks just trying to binge the new Vince Gilligan sci-fi drama “Pluribus” and instead got endless buffering, black screens, or were kicked out entirely. Talk about bad timing. Apple hyped this show for weeks, then wham, their servers went down right at the first episode’s premiere.

Mark Gurman, posting on X via @markgurman, reported that Apple TV went down on the premiere night of the new show Pluribus, with many users reporting the issue, noting, "Haven’t seen the service go down like this before."

So here’s what went down: The outage erupted late Thursday, Nov 6, rippling through the U.S. and beyond. Reports spiked on Downdetector (people weren’t shy; more than 11,700 outages were logged fast), Twitter exploded with angry fans, and neither restarting nor reinstalling the app did the trick. Charles LaRocca, posting on X via @LaRoccaism, shared that Apple TV (+) is down just when they were supposed to have @PluribusTV, with the service completely crashed and displaying a black box in front of all shows, even for those that are owned.

Apple’s own status page eventually showed a top system-wide video delivery failure. People heard “try again later,” but the fix took a good 12–18 hours. Most folks couldn’t stream until Friday morning, just in time for a belated weekend binge.

Apple’s not sharing the root cause yet, but tech types are blaming server overload, a classic case where every fan rushes in on launch night and the streaming pipes just burst. In the streaming wars, reliability matters: outages like this make viewers question whether to stick with Apple TV+ or bounce to greener Netflix pastures. Aaron, posting on X via @aaronp613, shared that Apple has now acknowledged the outage affecting Apple TV, Apple Arcade, and Apple Music.

For now, As of now, Apple TV services appear to be partially restored, and users are advised to restart their apps or devices if problems persist.
