Benjamin Sesko Injury Update
Benjamin Sesko is recovering from a knee injury and is close to a return for Manchester United. The latest updates suggest the club expects him back on the pitch in December if there are no setbacks.
Sesko picked up a knee problem in the 2 to 2 draw against Tottenham just before the November international break. He came on as a substitute in that match then had to go off after feeling the injury while taking a shot. Scans showed no serious ligament damage which was an early positive sign for United.
The injury still kept him out for around a month. During that spell he missed several Premier League games including the trip to Everton.
Reports say Sesko has moved on to individual work on the grass with the ball which is a key step in rehab. Coaches are happy with how his knee is reacting to this phase. He is not yet back in full training with the group but that stage is getting closer.
His agent Elvis Basanovic spoke on Slovenian TV and said Sesko feels very good. He explained that the recovery is going to plan and suggested the forward could even return a bit sooner than first expected.
United staff targeted a December comeback when the first assessments were made. Recent reports still point to that timeline with some outlets mentioning the Bournemouth match at Old Trafford in mid December as a possible return. If that game comes too soon he could feature later in the month against Aston Villa.
The club has not given a fixed date in public. The final call will depend on how his knee responds to increased training load over the next days.
Sesko’s absence has limited Rúben Amorim’s options up front during a busy part of the season. His return would add a physical central striker again which could help with rotation when other attackers leave for international duty.
The staff see him as an important part of the project after his summer move from RB Leipzig. If he comes back fully fit in December he should get a good run of games over the festive schedule.
