Bryan Woo Ijury Update
Bryan Woo missed the end of the season for the Mariners. He hurt his right pectoral in a game against Houston on September 19. He left after a few warmup pitches in the sixth inning. Doctors called it pectoral inflammation. The Mariners hoped he would heal in time for the playoffs. But he was not ready for the ALDS and did not make the roster.
Woo kept rehabbing. He did some flat-ground throwing and bullpen sessions. He even pitched in a simulated inning against teammates. Woo said his progress made him happy, but he was still not ready for full game action. His command and stamina were not back to normal.
If the Mariners win and move on to the ALCS, Woo could come back. He probably would not start right away but could help from the bullpen. The coaches will decide based on how he feels after each throw. The team does not want to rush it because of the risk of making things worse.
His numbers before the injury were solid. Woo went 15-7 with a 2.94 ERA. He struck out 198, walked 36, and kept hitters quiet most nights. The Mariners missed his steady starts during the playoffs.
In short, Woo is working back from injury. He is throwing but not yet cleared for full games. If Seattle’s season continues, Woo might return soon, likely in a smaller pitching role first. He will not start again until he is fully healthy.
