Cole Kmet Injury Update
Cole Kmet is not dealing with any serious injury right now and is expected to be active for the Chicago Bears in Week 15 against the Cleveland Browns.
He is not listed on the team’s official injury report this week, which means he has no practice limitations and is cleared to play. A couple of weeks ago, he was dealing with a back issue that briefly showed up on the injury report, but he returned to full practice and played in the Bears’ last game against the Packers.
In that game, Kmet caught two passes for 42 yards, which was his second straight game with multiple receptions. That is a small step up from earlier in the season when he was mostly invisible in the passing game, but it still shows how limited his role has become.
Kmet is still on the field, but he is no longer the main tight end in Chicago’s offense. The Bears drafted rookie Colston Loveland in the first round this year, and he has taken over as the primary receiving tight end. Loveland is now the guy they look to in the middle of the field and in the red zone, while Kmet is mostly used as a blocker and for short, safe throws.
Because of that, Kmet’s fantasy value is very low. He is not a must‑start option and is really only worth considering in deeper leagues or as a last‑resort streaming tight end if there are no better choices available.
Looking beyond this week, Kmet’s long‑term future with the Bears is unclear. His production has dropped a lot compared to his peak years, and he is no longer a key piece in the passing attack. With Loveland taking over and Kmet on a contract that makes him expensive for his current role, he is a likely candidate to be released after this season.
For now, though, he is healthy and should be in the lineup on Sunday. He will play, but don’t expect big numbers or a major role in the game plan.
