Connor Zilisch Injury Update: Connor Zilisch Suffers Broken Collarbone in Victory Lane Fall

Connor Zilisch Injury Update

Connor Zilisch, the young NASCAR talent, has unfortunately found himself sidelined after a slip-up at Victory Lane. After clinching a win at Watkins Glen on August 9, 2025, Zilisch went to celebrate, climbing on top of his car like many drivers do after a big victory.

Connor Zilisch (@ConnorZilisch) shared on Twitter that he’s been released from the hospital, with scans showing no head injury, only a broken collarbone expressed gratitude to the medics for their swift care.

But things took a quick turn when his foot got stuck in the window netting. In a split second, he lost his balance and fell face-first onto the pavement. Medical personnel were on-site in a heartbeat, and Zilisch was rushed to the hospital. Thankfully, the scans showed no head injuries, and he was released later that night with a broken collarbone. Though it looked pretty rough, Zilisch was conscious and aware through it all.

How Did Connor Zilisch's Injury Happen?

The accident happened during what was supposed to be a celebratory moment. Zilisch was on top of his car, a classic move for a driver soaking in the adrenaline of his first big victory at the Xfinity Series level. But as he stood up there, it seemed his foot got tangled in the driver’s side window netting. During pre-race coverage, Steven Taranto (@STaranto92) on Twitter, noted that Connor Zilisch had returned to the track at Watkins Glen just a day after his Victory Lane fall, his arm now in a sling following a broken collarbone.

That was all it took. Losing his balance, Zilisch fell directly onto the asphalt. The moment was caught on TV, showing Zilisch lying motionless for a few seconds before the medical crew rushed to his aid. Fortunately, there were no serious head injuries, but it’s still a tough break for the young driver.

When Will Connor Zilisch Return?

Well, the road to recovery isn’t going to be quick. A collarbone injury typically takes a few weeks to a few months to heal, so we’re looking at a potential six-to-twelve-week recovery period. The Xfinity playoffs are right around the corner, with the first race set for September 12, 2025, which gives Zilisch a little over a month to heal up.

Team owner Justin Marks has made it clear that they won’t rush anything. The decision to bring him back will depend on how quickly he heals and, most importantly, how he’s feeling in terms of strength and mobility. There’s no official timeline just yet, but with Zilisch's competitive nature, you can bet he’ll be eager to get back in the driver’s seat as soon as he’s physically able
