Daniel Jones Injury Update
Daniel Jones has a torn right Achilles tendon and his season is over. He got hurt in Week 14 playing for the Colts against the Jaguars on a non contact play.
He tried to set his feet after a throw and his right leg gave out. He went down grabbing the back of his lower leg and medical staff helped him off the field.
He was already dealing with a fracture in his other leg which made the scene even worse for him. After going to the locker room he came back to the sideline in a boot and street clothes and was ruled out.
Tests after the game showed a torn Achilles tendon in his right leg. Reports say he will need surgery and a long rehab that is expected to last around nine months.
That recovery window means he is almost certain to miss the rest of this season and could cut it close for the start of the 2026 season. The Colts coach has already said the news is not good and there is no chance he plays again this year.
This is another major injury on his record after the ACL tear he suffered with the Giants in 2023. Teams now have to think about two serious leg injuries when they look at him for future deals.
He is on a short term contract in Indianapolis and was trying to rebuild his value with a strong year. Analysts expect this injury to hurt his market and push him toward a cheaper prove it type deal once he is cleared.
For the Colts this means the offense now goes to the backup quarterback for the rest of the season. It also forces the front office to rethink plans at quarterback while Jones recovers from surgery and rehab.
