Darren Waller Injury Update
Darren Waller is out with a pectoral injury. He got hurt during Week 7 when the Dolphins lost to the Browns. At first, people thought it was a torn muscle, but later tests showed it was just a strain. That’s better news. The injury is not season-ending. He doesn’t need surgery. But he needs time to heal. The Dolphins put him on injured reserve, so he must sit for at least four games.
His season started slow. He joined Miami after a hip injury in training camp. Once fit, he played four games. He caught 10 passes for 117 yards and scored four touchdowns. Then he hurt his chest and had to stop.
Coach Mike McDaniel said Waller is working hard on recovery. It’s tough to say exactly when he will return. There’s hope he could play again this year. But it won’t be soon. Miami has a bye in Week 9. The earliest he could return is Week 13, when the Dolphins play the Saints. The team plans to watch his recovery and see how he feels closer to that game.
Some say he could be “week to week,” but the IR rules mean he can’t play until after Week 12. Until then, Miami will use other players at tight end. They also signed new options to help cover his spot.
Waller was a big help in the red zone. His four touchdowns made a difference. The Dolphins hope to get him back for the last stretch of the season. For now, waiting is all they can do. The coaches want him healthy, not rushed. That’s the latest—Waller is out, but not for the whole year. Watch Week 13 for his possible return.
Disclaimer:
Darren Waller's recovery timeline is subject to change based on his progress. While the injury is not season-ending, the Dolphins will monitor his healing closely. The earliest he can return is Week 13, and his availability will depend on his condition as the season progresses.
