Demarvion Overshown Injury Update
Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown is finally making his highly anticipated return after a grueling recovery from a torn ACL and meniscus in his right knee, suffered in the 2023 preseason. The 24-year-old speed demon, known for his explosive plays and versatility, has been sidelined for over two seasons, missing his entire rookie year and most of 2024.
But the wait is over, he's officially active and suiting up for tonight's Week 11 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football. Ed Werder (@WerderEdNFL) shared on X that Cowboys director of rehab Britt Brown praised DeMarvion Overshown for always being on time and willing to work, as he returns tonight for MNF, with an excellent piece from @toddarcher.
Activated from injured reserve just six days ago alongside safety Shavon Revel, Overshown opened his 21-day practice window in late October. He's been limited in sessions this week, entering the second phase of his three-week ramp-up, and even stepped off the field briefly during Friday's practice for evaluation. No major issues were reported.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer confirmed Overshown will play, but on a careful snap count to manage his workload and protect that knee, likely rotating with Micah Parsons and others in the linebacker corps. Jon Machota (@jonmachota) reported on X that for the first time in 343 days, DeMarvion Overshown will play in a football game.
This is huge for a Cowboys defense that's been leaky against the run and in coverage. Overshown's pre-injury stats, 51 tackles, 2 INTs, and 3 sacks as a rookie, hint at the disruption he brings with his 4.6 speed and coverage skills. He eyed a full return by mid-November, and here we are.
No setbacks from that October scare when he was carted off practice, just precautionary stuff. Fans are buzzing; expect him to ease in with special teams and sub-packages first. Overshown's resilience shines through's been grinding in rehab, even calling out the 49ers as his "dream" matchup for his 2025 debut. If he stays healthy, he could transform Dallas's front seven down the stretch.
