Doechii Cancelled All Points East, Bristol and Paris Shows

Doechii, the genre-blending rapper and singer from Florida, has unfortunately cancelled her much-anticipated performances at several major festivals in Europe, including All Points East in London, Forwards Bristol, and Rock en Seine in Paris. Rock en Seine (@rockenseine) announced that Doechii will no longer be performing at the festival on Thursday, August 21. They expressed their disappointment, noting she is an incredible artist, and they were excited to see her in Paris.

Forwards Bristol shared that Doechii will not be performing at her upcoming shows, saying they were excited to bring her to Bristol. They added that Sunday’s lineup still includes Jorja Smith, The Last Dinner Party, Olivia Dean, and more great talent.

Fans are disappointed, and honestly, I get it. Last time I saw someone try to hype a crowd with “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake” at a club, everyone but the DJs ended up singing along (badly, but enthusiastically).

This time, though, Doechii is “no longer able to perform,” as festival organizers explained in their social media posts, but no reason has been given yet. Below is an Instagram post shared by All Points East (@allpointseastuk) announcing that Doechii will no longer be performing at her upcoming shows. While expressing disappointment, they praised her as an incredible artist and reminded fans that the festival still features a strong lineup with RAYE, Tyla, JADE, Jyoty, Nao, and more, promising an unforgettable day.

The news landed like a brick for festivalgoers hoping for a live taste of tracks from her Grammy-winning mixtape "Alligator Bites Never Heal," like “Denial Is A River” and “Catfish.” Organizers from the UK festivals haven’t announced a replacement, and ticket holders are still waiting to hear if refunds are available. You know how these things go, a festival lineup is like a bottle of ketchup- sometimes, you lose your favorite flavor and just get stuck with whatever’s left. For me, missing out on a new artist’s set always stings; live music just hits different, especially after the world discovered Doechii thanks to her viral 2020 single.

Still, there’s a silver lining: her North American tour kicks off next month, with a bunch of US dates lined up in October, so American fans still have a shot at catching her, assuming all goes according to plan. Till then, the hope that Doechii will make it to future All Points East shows remains alive, and fingers crossed those festival ketchup bottles get re-filled soon with the real deal.
