Dune Awakening 1.2.0.0 Patch Notes and Updates

Arrakis calls once again—Dune Awakening’s sprawling open-world survival MMO just dropped its anticipated 1.2.0.0 update, and the desert faithful are buzzing.

Whether you're dodging sandworms, hustling for spice, or grinding out faction drama under two blazing moons, this latest patch promises a fresh wave of fixes, tweaks, and new features that’ll shake up life on the sands.

Before diving into the detailed notes, here’s a quick run-up: expect changes tuned from countless hours of player feedback, plus a few surprises meant to re-ignite your rivalry in the dunes.

Features and Changes

Technical and Stability:

  • Improved server stability.
  • Improved anti cheat measures.
  • The number of assets in certain locations has been reduced to improve performance.
  • Improved performance around Mysa Tarill.

Resources, Building, and Crafting:

  • Improved how building piece rotation works with a controller, to have more granularity.
  • Added renaming functionality in the Placeables and Vehicles menu for players to be able to organize their bases better.
  • Players now have more opportunities to build in the Shield Wall section of the Deep Desert.

Combat:

  • Added a new weapon, the “Adept Missile Launcher.” This is a Duraluminum tier missile launcher which allows infantry to compete with air vehicles earlier in progression. It can be unlocked in the Combat category of the Research menu. The “Missile” ammunition can now also be crafted in the Weapons Fabricator in addition to the Advanced Weapons Fabricator.
  • Reduced the time it takes for NPCs to build up bonus accuracy against their targets in line of sight from 15 seconds across the board to (based on tier) 7.5 at tier one and scaling linearly to 2.5 at tier six. This bonus only comes into effect after the initial peekaboo mauls.
  • The ping system targets characters more easily now.
  • The basic rocket launcher now has Lock-On functionality.
  • Dashing out of abilities now has VFX.
  • NPCs should now activate shields when they have spotted an enemy.
  • Sprint attacks should be easier to aim towards an intended target that is surrounded by other potential soft lock targets.
  • NPC combat tweaks were made to make NPCs more responsive.
  • Rockets should now correctly deal damage to the vehicle module they hit.
  • Updated targeting for Bindu Nerve Strike to more often align with your melee soft lock target.
  • While in spice prescience, you can see the stamina bar of other players.
  • If you die in a PvP location, your timer always uses the rules for PvP respawn, even if you select a PvE location.
  • If you die in a PvE location, the timer uses the rules of the area of the spawn point you select.
  • You can no longer use spice consumables while in the prescient state.

Vehicles:

  • In order to make hauling large amounts of cargo to and from the Deep Desert, the storage capacity for the Assault Ornithopters has been increased. The amount of inventory slots have increased from 15 to 20, and the volume of the storage has been increased from 1000 to 2000.
  • When you get missile locked while in a vehicle, a sound alert now plays.
  • Ornithopter rockets should now be more accurate.
  • Ornithopter trail and flare was updated to look better and give better feedback.
  • Ornithopter rockets will now only shoot to where you are aiming, rather than behind you or the ground.
  • Ornithopter rockets now explode when reaching the end of their life.
  • Rockets can now be equipped by double-clicking on them with the mouse.
  • Improvements made to camera when using one-handed tools while in vehicle passenger seats.

Worldbuilding and Exploration:

  • Players will no longer be stuck in story maps if the Overland Map server is down.
  • Fixed an issue where players would not be able to respawn at their home base, respawn beacon or vehicle when being prompted to respawn upon joining the server.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause only a free roam camera to be shown after connecting to a server.
  • The Sandworm will now check if there are players or vehicles nearby when selecting a location for the breach animation. This should reduce the instances of being randomly killed by a Sandworm.
  • In PvP areas various loot containers in testing stations will now respawn at the same time as the related NPCs, and the NPC respawn times will be updated to match the loot respawn times.
  • Implemented auto-run toggle which automatically moves character/vehicle forward.

Story, Journey, and New Player Experience:

  • Introduced new journey storyline, ‘The Great Convention’. Continue the main story directly after the events of ‘Find the Fremen’ and ‘The Assassins Handbook’. Remember your mission. Wake the Sleeper, find the Fremen!
  • Completing the Advanced Trainer Contracts now rewards an exclusive armor set specific to each trainer, together with a customization item that allows other armors of the same type to be styled accordingly. Players that have already completed these contracts will get these armor sets retroactively.
  • Contracts can now be tracked from their map marker, when hovering over them!
  • Three new codex entries related to the Great Convention storyline have been added.
  • New dialogue characters, some of which have contracts to offer, have been added to Hagga Basin, Arrakeen, and Harko Village.

Deep Desert and Landsraad:

  • Created a new Story Content location and new caves to explore in the Deep Desert Shield Wall.
  • Created new Deep Desert layouts and increased Rock island density in them.
  • New distribution of loot set up for each Deep Desert layout.
  • New visuals for some parts of the Deep Desert Shield Wall.
  • Improved performance, gameplay and visuals of caves in the Deep Desert.
  • Player Checkpoint Zones has been removed from inside Deep Desert Testing Stations to reduce repeated respawning in PvP areas.
  • Spice field generation adjusted to allow for smoother resource generation in the Deep Desert.
  • It’s now only possible to purchase from the Landsraad reward vendors if you switched to the faction before the term started.

User Interface:

  • A pop-up notification is added to note the end of main storylines.
  • Added hotkeys on F1 – F8 for switching seats in vehicles. There is a short cooldown between each seat change.
  • Added object names to event logs, so the name you set for i.e. your Sub-fief Console will have that name attached to the events in the log.
  • Added new setting that allows the game to try to detect keyboard language/layout (eg AZERTY).
  • Permission roles and access levels UI tweaked for clarity by adding numbers, to coincide with the Sub-Fief and Door UI. The numbers used on the Sub-Fief and Door UI was changed.
    • 1 = Public
    • 2 = Guild
    • 3 = Associate
    • 4 = Co-Owner
    • 5 = Owner
  • Set up a message in the permissions menu to make it clear whether an object is in a different map or partition of the Deep Desert. Streamer mode was taken into consideration.
  • Added persistent ‘role’ headers to permissions list and respective player search.
  • Vehicle HUD now displays warning messages when being locked on or shot with target-seeking missiles.
  • Vehicle temperature bar will now move to its current value immediately upon entering an overheated vehicle.
  • Modified ornithopter artificial horizon for better visibility in daylight.
  • Added Menu hotkey prompts on player menu and social menu tabs.
  • The prescience input hint on the HUD will now grey out when the state is already active or can’t be triggered.
  • Updated the icons and visual for the Ping and Personal Marker (Waypoint) icons as well as Circuits on storage menus, to show input and output more clearly.
    • “Source:” label has been added to the Circuits header for Backpack/Vehicles storage for clarity.
  • Added a tick icon in the top right of item info cards to indicate when they are equipped in the loadout or equipment slots – helps when comparing items.
  • Added PS5 controller images in Settings menu.
  • Updated controller image toggles to only show the active controller.
  • Added support for double-click on Respawn map markers to respawn.
  • Respawn menu now displays PvP/PvE status for easier navigation, will countdown in real time, and is now scrollable by mouse wheel.
  • Visual improvements to Text Chat on HUD, so newer chat messages are clearly visible and older ones disappear as they get replaced.
  • On the Fullscreen Map, the personal marker will now appear in front of the objective marker.
  • Added map markers to the Legend for all party member types (vehicle, DBNO etc) as well as updated Landsraad Control Points name in the Legend.
  • Added settings for turning off/on HUD Input Hints (one for vehicles and another for tools).
  • Adjusted location of hide UI option in the Settings menu – from On Foot to Menu.
  • Updated Taxation UI when paying taxes with banked Solaris to show the correct amount.
  • Several interaction type of notifications updated to a more common visual style.
  • Volume percentage indicator has been updated to the correct colours on storage grid volume bar.
    • “VOLUME” label replaced with simpler “VOL” on the storage grid volume bar, to prevent some cases of it being cropped.
  • Updating frame generation method in settings now requires a game restart.
  • Minor visual alignment to ability slot layout on HUD.
  • Emotes should now all be correct size, which will be noticeable when toggling between Loadout and Emotes, as now the Input numbers should not move. Centre diamond and line should still be visible when no Loadout or Emote slot is selected.

Graphics, Animations, and VFX:

  • Improved animations and cloth simulation for various cinematics.
  • Added lipsync for the Bene Gesserit Puzzle Projection.
  • Added more natural visual quality improvements to the sand deformation from player footprints and vehicle tracks.

Audio:

  • Added audio to map reveal of survey probe area.
  • Audio update to Landsraad UI, spark effects on destroyed vehicles, and background radio in Arrakeen.

Other:

  • Character Recustomizer: There is a new Recustomizer room in each Social hub (Harko Village and Arrakeen City) where you can pay to have your appearance altered.
  • Updated content for Character Creation and Recustomizer:
    • 4 New Hairstyles added to Character Customizer
    • New Head and Body Tattoos added to Character Customizer
    • New Tattoo tinting feature added + custom colours

Fixes

Technical and Stability:

  • Fixed an issue that caused a crash when switching to the item customization screen.
  • Added 21:9 support for some cinematics that were missing this.
  • Fixed an issue that caused a player character from another server to appear in the customization menu for a brief moment.
  • The connection dialogue can now be cancelled when connecting to a server. This addresses the issues that could cause players to get stuck indefinitely in the startup phase.
  • Fixed an issue causing players to end up in an infinite loading screen if trying to respawn and then getting kicked from the game due to a timeout.
  • In the Players menu, if reentering the menu from another tab, ‘Search Player’ will always be shown as the input prompt instead of ‘Close’ if the menu was previously left in that state.

Resources, Building, and Crafting:

  • Made improvements to mismatching and glitching building pieces.
  • Some resources that were previously spawning under the sand have now been adjusted.
  • Addressed misplaced resources in multiple locations in Hagga Basin.
  • Fixed an issue that caused building pieces entries in the construction tool menu to get visually broken when scrolling quickly.

Economy:

  • When relisting stackable items in the exchange, it is no longer possible to edit the quantity field.
  • Added a maximum purchase limit per transaction to items that do not occupy inventory space, such as Cups of Water.

Combat:

  • Fix for when your feet shuffle weirdly when transitioning from first dagger quick attack to blocking, while moving forward.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Weirding Step’s range to show as 0.
  • Updated the way Poison Tolerance and Bleed Tolerance passives show their benefits to better communicate how they function.
  • Fixed client and server desync when shooting rockets against moving vehicle parts.
  • NPCs now rotate towards the direction of fired shots and play an animation when a player fires a shot past them without hitting them.
  • Fixed ‘G’ key that does not function consistently [holster/unholster/favorite].
  • “The Ancient Way” (missile launcher) target lock system is now more reliable and now disengage when reloading.

Vehicles:

  • Adjusted collisions with the vehicles overall for better interaction experience.
  • Fixed an issue that could lock vehicle abilities if triggered while exiting the vehicle.

Worldbuilding and Exploration:

  • Fixed an issue where your character cannot sprint in city hubs (Harko Village and Arrakeen).
  • Players can now interact with Tyg Rolsum at the Anvil Trading Post.
  • Lootable crashed sandbikes should now be visible again and not under the ground.
  • Fixed one of the bugs that led the Sandworm to sometimes start flying.
  • Fixed an issue where characters that were in the ‘downed state’ would not die when sinking in quicksand.
  • Players can no longer spawn vehicles inside NPC camps.
  • Fixed an issue where interacting with vehicles would break when a Sandworm breached close to a player.
  • Players can no longer move their Ornithopter icon while in the Overland Map loading screen.
  • Different locations prone to players getting stuck have been fixed.
  • Fixed an issue where the timer in the Waterfat Manor would not stop counting down when the player has died.
  • Adjusted an explosive trap’s placement in the Wreck of The Leto to make it visible.
  • An issue with NPCs spawning underground in the Mirzabah Market has been fixed.
  • Player characters will now clip through geometry less often when attempting to latch on to a wall to climb.
  • Removed duplicate Intel Point inside Testing Station No. 93 and No. 186. 
  • Fixed issue that caused a player standing outside of the Sietch to be able to hear and receive subtitles for the dialogue happening inside.

Story, Journey, and New Player Experience:

  • Log off timer will now show in NPE.
  • Minor adjustment done to how the coded message is retrieved in contract “Checking the Post”, it can now be completed as intended, and the contract item is removed from inventory.
  • Assault Seeker ability now counts correctly as one and not two when used on the Master of Weapons Advanced Trooper contract.
  • Fixed an issue that caused killing any of the Chosen NPCs with a vehicle to not properly update the Journey.
  • Minor fixes done across story missions.
  • Text cleanup done for various contracts.

Deep Desert and Landsraad:

  • Fixed, correctly scaled, and optimized several building piece combinations in Deep Desert Imperial Testing Stations.
  • Various polishing work on shipwrecks in the Deep Desert to improve performance and visual quality.
  • Fixed an issue causing large piles of sand to intersect with the ceilings of certain shipwrecks in the Deep Desert.
  • Adjusted a control point that was overlapping a cave in Deep Desert.
  • Map marker and missing discovery notification for Deep Desert shipwrecks have been fixed.
  • Made adjustments to the Flour Sand distribution in Deep Desert to make resource generation smoother and more strategic.
  • Deep Desert Cave with unreachable loot has been removed.

User Interface:

  • Fixed issue where you could not fully pan the fullscreen map camera to edges when zoomed in. This was especially noticable in Harko Village.
  • Adjusted map markers for some contracts.
  • Map menu press and hold inputs now work as expected while the filter is opened, while using a controller.
  • Fixed some issues with map marker toggles via the Map Filter, not working properly.
  • Fixed an issue where the Tax Collector was not always disabled when using the Map Filter list.
  • Harko Village city locations map markers are no longer categorized as vendors in the Filter menu and can now be filtered using the “locations” filtering option.
  • Schematic kits are now correctly displaying all the items from the bundle.
  • Fixed and issue where Ornithopter wing damage could be misrepresented.
  • Fixed incorrect icon for Buggy PSU MK3 in vehicle management console.
  • Fixed a bug where the Shield button prompt could stay visible when entering a vehicle.
  • Visual fixes to high altitude warning text on vehicle HUD; no longer occupies three text lines in certain cases.
  • Fixed a text bug when attempting to respec skills while inside a vehicle.
  • Fixed an issue where Report Bug and Request help windows would open behind.
  • Notifications are no longer updated if hidden behind a dialogue window.
  • Fixed a visual issue where dialogue options would look misaligned on controller.
  • Compare items buttons now working properly while using a controller.
  • Fixed an issue causing controller scrolling to stop working in the Blood Purifier UI.
  • Fixed an issue when trying to connect through Funcom Launcher’s Continue button.
  • Fixed an issue when using controller where sometimes the user would be prompted to quit the game after skipping the cutscene before entering character creation.
  • Fixed selection of the correct contract in the contract menu, especially after completed contracts are hidden.
  • Updated the death screen visuals.
  • Updated triangle menu background to ensure they all match and share the same opacity (with exception of the tutorials which is still light so it isn’t too distracting when staying on screen).
  • Fixed travel confirmation popup still showing up a second time when there was a travel failure due to having a harnessed vehicle.
  • Visual improvement done to the ‘Precise Parry’ debuff icon.
  • Fixed some unlocalized text in the construction tool and when entering the Sietch.
  • Fixed an issue where spacebar would add a space to a text field (eg Name) instead of confirming the entered text.
  • Fixed an issue where spacebar wasn’t confirming travel via popup.
  • Fixed an overlap on the HUD between the DBNO status and notifications like party invites. The latter will now no longer show while in DBNO.
  • Fixed incorrect aspect ratio for Trial maps in pop-up windows.
  • Fixed mismatched icons for party member/leader in map and map legend.
  • Fixed settings which are duplicated on different tabs no longer reflecting the actual state when it got changed in another tab.
  • Fixed issue with capture UI getting stuck after completing a Control Point task.
  • Fixed an issue where some crosshairs would barely be visible on low resolutions.
  • Fixed an issue where scoped weapons UI could show up even if the player didn’t actually scope. This only happened if the player equipped the weapon and scoped very quickly.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented server shutdown messages from re-appearing after crossing Deep Desert servers.
  • Fixed an issue causing the blocked stamina regeneration indicator to not properly be applied to the stamina bar when the player was in exploration mode.
  • Fixed an issue making filter view available in the Overland Map despite it not having any functionality there.
  • Fixed issues causing shared (through co-ownership) vehicle and home base respawn location markers to not show and update for some players.
  • Visual polish done to the Loot menu.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the text for the Proteus ship text to appear in the wrong cinematic. It should now appear properly in the opening NPE cinematic when Zantara shoots down the ship.
  • Fixed an issue causing the damage effect vignette to disappear completely when using the dynamic HUD setting.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the vehicle ammunition text above ability slots to not immediately appear after a reconnect.
  • Updated the icons in the respawn menu to show matching icons in the list and map.

Graphics, Animations, and VFX:

  • Fixed multiple issues in lipsync animations for characters.
  • Fixed an issue causing the player character to slide when cancelling an ability.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the player character body to bend low when jumping and then stopping after landing.
  • Fixed an issue that made the character torso twist unnaturally when jumping sideways with underslung weapons.
  • Fixed an issue causing the character to do a “popping” animation when dismounting the Harkonnen and Atreides variant sandbikes.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the character to pop when turning fast left and right and during animations that force a transition into walk mode.
  • Less clipping should now be visible on Ariste’s tunic during the Teahouse Cinematic.
  • Fixed several issues with clothing behavior and mismatching.
  • Updated Slaver pants to have a better customization.
  • Fixed an issue causing Radiation Suit Gloves and Boots to not be affected by customization tinting.
  • Color icons in Character Creation are now more correct compared to the colors applied to the character.
  • Fixed an issue where the color of tattoos sometimes looks faded.
  • Adjustments made to a sand surface in Jabal Eifrit in order to fix visual issue.
  • Fixed various gaps that would allow you to see or walk to out of bound areas.
  • Fixed an issue causing the player character’s eyes to sometimes look terrifying and gross during the first Spice Dream.
  • Primrose flowers now correctly bends away from the player when within range. The movement of wind increasing is now correctly visualized.
  • The lights of a Shield Wall NPC base are now visible in the distance.
  • Updated lighting settings for Muad’Dib terrarium.
  • Fixed several bugs related to light assets showing through geometry.
  • Adjusted lighting in several NPC dialogue scenes to address visual issues.
  • Fixed directional lights in Imperial Testing Stations 60 and 76.
  • Adjusted light rendering distance at Imperial Testing Station 29.
  • Reduced light flickering in various testing stations and cinematics.
  • Fixed an issue where the sandstorm was visible inside the Wreck of the Pallas.
  • Fixed Sandflies Flamethrower broken decals.
  • Fixed Harkonnen Scout Ornithopter to have the correct materials.
  • Several landscape meshes have been fixed with proper user-friendly collision.
  • Fixed a bug that caused erratic arm behavior when using certain unique cutterays.
  • Fixed a minor issue with the Ixian Secret emote that caused a holstered weapon to briefly disappear.
  • Two-handed static compactors now transition properly into idle pose.
  • Player character should now be visible and on the correct spot in cinematics where this was not the case.
  • Various adjustments done throughout Hagga Basin to fix issues of floating assets, collision and clipping.

Audio:

  • Fix for certain emote audio not stopping correctly.
  • Fix for certain cinematic VO having a click sound when starting playback.
  • Fix for sword DBNO execution not playing any sound effects.
