Is Cronos: The New Dawn on Xbox Game Pass?
Not on launch day—and probably not for a good while, if at all. Sorry, Game Pass folks, no cryptic launch day surprises this time. Cronos: The New Dawn isn’t showing up in the Xbox Game Pass lineup when it launches on September 5th, and honestly, anyone who patrols the Xbox Store for that comforting ‘Coming to Game Pass’ badge probably saw this coming. No badge, no hype reels, no last-minute “just kidding!” press release—Cronos is a regular, schlubby Xbox release for now. Well, clearly, Cronos: The New Dawn is not on Xbox Game Pass.
Is there a chance it might pop up on Game Pass later? Absolutely, but it’s anyone’s guess as to when. Bloober Team’s last big horror hit, The Medium, did make it to Game Pass, so the developer’s on friendly terms with Microsoft. But that’s hardly a guarantee—sometimes, these deals arrive months (or years) after launch, when the publisher thinks, “Hey, let’s widen the audience.” Makes sense: launch day is for die-hards willing to pay, while a Game Pass debut can revive interest down the road.
If you love a good “maybe,” this is one. Set your notifications and watch the gaming news, but also maybe don’t put any bets on a day-one Game Pass addition, at least not yet. Still, it’s not impossible—so if you like to dream, dream on, friend.
Is Cronos: The New Dawn on PS5?
The answer is a resounding “yes.” Cronos: The New Dawn is coming to PlayStation 5 right out of the gate, so PlayStation players who have a soft spot for body horror (or an unhealthy relationship with controllers and jump scares) can dive in. There’s no PS Plus launch, though, so you’ll need to buy it outright. PS5 players, get your wallets (and your nerves) ready.
On Twitter, Shinobi602 (@shinobi602) revealed that Cronos: The New Dawn will have a full physical edition exclusively on PS5, making it the only platform to receive one.
A little side story: Back in the PS4 era, I remember saving up for Layers of Fear by Bloober Team, only to drop my controller mid-game when my cat jumped on my lap at precisely the wrong moment. Bloober’s reputation for psychological horror runs deep—there’s always a good chance a new horror gem from them will be worth it, even if it isn’t on a subscription service. Besides, bragging rights for playing horror games alone at 1 a.m. are worth their weight in gold.
Cronos: The New Dawn Release Date
Here’s the easy bit: Cronos: The New Dawn officially launches September 5th, 2025. It’s rolling out on all major platforms except—you guessed it—subscription services like Game Pass or PlayStation Plus, at least for the launch window.
Mark the date on your calendar, or, if you’re like me, just wait for the inevitable chime of social media feeds lighting up with impressions, walkthroughs, and oh-so-many screenshots of horrifying creature designs.
