Is There a Lioness Season 3? Everything You Need to Know

Is There a Lioness Season 3?

Yes, Special Ops: Lioness is officially coming back for Season 3. That’s the headline: no cryptic TV rumors, no hedging, it’s real: the Taylor Sheridan spy thriller got renewed by Paramount+, and the wheels are already turning for the next chapter. For fans, this is great news. There’s something about the show’s no-nonsense, both-gritty-and-glam take on CIA drama that just keeps viewers glued and yelling at the screen. Season 3 is now filming in Texas, so things are moving.

What’s the Release Date?

No, nobody at Paramount+ gave us a magical premiere date, But it looks like we’ll probably get Season 3 sometime in the second half of 2026, at least if things go the way they did before. The last two seasons shot relatively briskly (Sheridan’s sets don’t seem like the kind where you’d spend a week debating which coffee flavor to serve), and the show’s big for the platform, so there’s real incentive to get it on air.

There’s a tiny chance it slips into 2027, which…would feel like forever, honestly. Who has patience for another year of “will they, won’t they” headlines? But with filming underway and stars like Zoe Saldaña and Nicole Kidman back in action, fans have reason to be optimistic.

Who’s Back?

Both Zoe Saldaña and Nicole Kidman are sticking around, and they aren't just part of the action; they’re executive producers, meaning they’re pretty invested. A fun new addition is Ian Bohen (who Yellowstone fans will recognize), playing a Delta Force operator and primary K9 handler. The rest of the returning cast is a bit fuzzy, with names like Laysla De Oliveira, Jill Wagner, and fingers crossed, Morgan Freeman, rumored but not all confirmed yet.

  • Zoe Saldaña as Joe the glue that holds the whole operation (and let’s be honest, much of the plot) together.

  • Nicole Kidman: Diplomatic, calculating, and still manages to make phone calls look tense.

  • Ian Bohen: The new “by-the-book” military guy; expecting lots of stern looks.

On a personal note, my neighbor claims Nicole Kidman could talk a lion out of hunting, and honestly, that tracks.

Will It Be Eight Episodes Again?

Most likely! Both previous seasons had eight episodes, and there’s no sign of that changing. For a show this plot-heavy, that feels about right: not too short, not so long you’re checking your phone halfway through. If Sheridan tries to go for twelve, I’ll eat my metaphorical hat.

What’s the Story?

Season 3 will keep chasing the big, global storylines: CIA covert ops, danger, personal sacrifice. If you want cozy mysteries, you’re in the wrong streaming zone. Season 2 wrapped with some real trauma, so expect a blend of fallout and new missions. Things will get even messier before anybody finds closure. I’m bracing myself for at least one “wait, they’re working with who this time?” twist.

Where’s It Filming?

Taylor Sheridan’s own studio in Texas is doing the honors this time. No surprise there; the setup lets them go big, with grand exteriors and controlled indoor shots. It also means random cameos by cowboy hats are always possible.
