Is Tomorrow School Holiday or Not in Chennai? Will Schools Be Closed on 3 December 2025 Due to Rain?

Is Tomorrow School Holiday or Not in Chennai?

Due to the ongoing heavy rainfall caused by Cyclone Ditwah, schools in Chennai may officially declare a holiday on December 3, 2025. The deep depression over the Bay of Bengal has been causing very heavy rainfall along the coasts of north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh, and this is expected to continue through tomorrow morning.

As a result, the district collectors of Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, and Kancheepuram may announce school closures for December 3, following the holiday declared on December 2, 2025. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for extremely heavy rainfall in these regions, with conditions expected to remain intense into tomorrow morning. Given the potential for flooding and reduced visibility, it’s highly likely that schools in these areas will remain closed for safety reasons.

In contrast, other parts of Tamil Nadu, such as Puducherry and Karaikal, are experiencing more moderate rainfall, so the chance of school holidays there remains uncertain. Local authorities are still assessing the situation, with a 20-30% chance of declaring a holiday in these regions. As of now, school closures in Chennai and its neighboring districts seem almost certain for tomorrow.
