Juan Soto Injury Update: What Happened to Juan Soto? Left Foot Contusion Following Foul Ball Incident

Juan Soto gave Mets fans a proper scare at Petco Park on Tuesday night. The right fielder fouled a ball hard off his left foot during the game against the Padres and straightaway dropped to a knee. Trainers and manager Carlos Mendoza rushed out immediately. Everyone knew it was serious, but still hoped for the best.

On Twitter, @AnthonyDiComo reported that Juan Soto showed clear pain after hitting a foul ball off his left foot or toe, drawing quick attention from the Mets' trainer. Despite the discomfort and check-up, Soto has decided to remain in the game.

Despite visible pain, Soto completed his at-bat and grounded out. He limped down the line but could not continue once the third out was made. Mets staff substituted Tyrone Taylor into centre field and shifted Jeff McNeil to right. The official word from the team is a “foot contusion”. That’s a bruise from impact, and initial signs are that no bones are broken.

On Twitter, @StephPowell100 shared that, after further tests, Juan Soto's injury is confirmed as just a foot contusion. He adds that Soto will likely miss only one or two games at most.

Soto’s numbers remain impressive even after this hiccup. Playing 107 of 108 games for the Mets in his first season, he’s posted a .249 average, 25 home runs, and 62 RBIs so far this 2025 MLB season. The new contract he signed is already paying off, but the Mets can’t afford to lose their star again.

Medical tests are expected to happen soon. If all is clear, the Mets might keep him off the line-up for a game or two just for precaution. With the Mets fighting for a playoff spot and already facing tough luck in California, every supporter will be glued to injury updates.
