Jurrien Timber Injury Update
Jurrien Timber is dealing with a minor knock and his status for Arsenal’s next match is still uncertain. The problem came from a heavy kick he took in the defeat against Aston Villa in the Premier League.
That impact left him sore and he did not recover in time for the Champions League game against Club Brugge. He was not in the squad at all for that match which raised fresh concern about his fitness.
Mikel Arteta explained that Timber took a strong knock and needs more time to settle before he can play again. The manager grouped Timber with a couple of other players who were carrying similar issues after the Villa game.
Right now Timber is being monitored closely by the medical staff. His chances of playing against Wolves depend on how he responds in the final training sessions before the game. So he is not completely ruled out but he is not fully ready either.
Arsenal are already short in defence which makes his situation more important for the team. Several other defenders have had fitness or suspension problems in recent weeks so every option at the back matters.
If Timber does not make it Arteta will need to rely on other centre back choices such as Hincapie or move Ben White into a central role. That would change the balance of the back line and could affect how Arsenal build from the back.
The positive sign is that this is described as a knock rather than a serious long term injury. The club view it as something that should clear up with short rest and treatment if there is no setback.
A clearer update is expected closer to the Wolves match once Timber has gone through another training session. Until then the situation remains day to day and Arsenal will not take risks if he still feels pain.
