Kelsey Mitchell Injury Update
Kelsey Mitchell got hurt in Game 5 of the WNBA semifinals against the Las Vegas Aces. She injured her left leg in the third quarter. It happened without any contact. People saw her rubbing her knee after hitting a three pointer. Right after that, she started walking slow under the basket and leaned on a referee for support.
The post clearly shows how Kelsey Mitchell was helped off the court after appearing to sustain a leg injury
She ended up on the floor for several minutes with the training staff and teammates around her. A stretcher came, but she did not use it. She got help from two teammates and left the court on her own.
The Indiana Fever ruled her out for the rest of the game. Reporters said trainers were checking her left quad, but some mentioned she was also cramping in her right leg. By the time she left, she had scored fifteen points and made all her three point shots.
So far, there is no official word on the full extent of her injury. The Fever say she is still being evaluated. There is no clear update if she will miss more games or how long she might be out.
Kelsey Mitchell was having one of her best years. She was an MVP finalist. She averaged over twenty points a game and carried the team while other top players were hurt. Indiana has had six players out, including key names, during the playoffs.
As of now, she has not released a statement. The team says more info will come soon, but nothing is official yet. This injury could be serious, since it was a non contact play and she needed help to walk. But not needing a stretcher may be a good sign.
Fans and players from both teams gave support as she left the court. The whole WNBA community is waiting for a real medical update from the Fever before anything else can be said about her season or return.
