Martin Dubravka Injury Update: Shoulder Setback Before Burnley Move

Martin Dubravka Injury Update

Martin Dubravka’s shoulder injury is still a bother, and honestly, it’s put Burnley in a bit of a twist right before the season kicks off. He missed the club’s recent friendly in South Korea, which was a letdown for fans eager to see the “new guy” suit up straight away. Providing an update ahead of Tottenham’s clash with Burnley, Metro Sport shared on Twitter the latest on Martin Dubravka’s injury status, keeping fans informed on his availability for the fixture.

A few folks were hoping for a miracle recovery, but when the final whistle blew on Burnley’s 1–0 defeat to Lazio, Dubravka was nowhere near the pitch instead, nursing his shoulder and probably itching to swap the rehab room for the net.

Scott Parker, Burnley’s manager, didn’t rush things. He said after the match, “We’ve looked at the data of the new players and felt it was probably just a bit too early for Martin and Armando [Broja] to play…” If you’ve ever waited on a new signing to debut, you know that familiar mix of hope and impatience. Especially with the season opener breathing down everyone’s neck.

When Will Martin Dubravka Come Back?

Honestly, it’s still all guesswork. He’s a doubt for Burnley’s Premier League opener against Tottenham on August 16. That first clash was supposed to set the scene for Dubravka a fresh start, big stage, all that jazz. But unless the shoulder gods intervene, he’ll be watching from the sidelines, and Max Weiss (recently signed from Karlsruhe) will have his shot to impress.

How Did the Injury Happen?

The injury itself is a bit of an anti-climax, really, no epic collision, no heroic save gone awry. Dubravka’s shoulder started bothering him just before Burnley completed the transfer. He skipped Newcastle’s Far East pre-season tour, which, if you’ve ever been stuck watching your team hop around the globe while you’re stuck rehabbing… not a fun way to spend July.

Eddie Howe, his ex-boss at Newcastle, told Chronicle Live, “Martin was scheduled to travel out but he had a shoulder problem and went to see a specialist and I think he had an injection.” That’s classic football medicine—travel, hope, then injections and waiting.

Fast forward, and Burnley’s medical team decided not to risk him right away. There was a game at the training ground versus Manchester City, and while a few new lads got some minutes, Dubravka sat out, shoulder still not quite ready for prime time.
