His partner Rielli balances things with her baking prowess—so if you’re after a showstopper dessert, this is the team to watch. Rumor has it their dynamic gets spicy (and not just on the plate), as Michael’s love of meat sometimes clashes with fellow contestant Jacinta’s nutritionist ethos.
Maria and Bailey: Self-proclaimed "boss friends" from South Australia, these two have some serious ambition—Bailey runs five companies and Maria slices up cakes for a living (professionally, I mean). Look for fine dining, mayor energy, and maybe the occasional corporate-level sass.
Lol and Lil: Absolute besties from Logan, Queensland, with so much fun energy that one rival called them the "Logan bogans"—and frankly, they seem to own it. Their food is “sunshine on a plate" according to Colin Fassnidge, and their confidence is contagious. Don’t let the giggles fool you—these two "bite" when the competition heats up.
Mel and Jacinta: Cousins with a focus on health and kindness, Mel’s kitchen style is calm and considered, while Jacinta (with a nutrition background) is all about showing that healthy does not mean flavorless. I imagine a lot of colorful bowls and the occasional debate about quinoa (look, it’s a versatile grain; don’t knock it until you’ve tried it).
And just as a side, these contestants aren’t technically paid as reality TV stars. They get a weekly allowance (last year it was about $1100), but it’s less about getting rich and more about the shot at $100,000—not to mention the family bragging rights, which, as we all know, are priceless.
