Omarion Hampton Injury Update
Omarion Hampton hurt his ankle in the Chargers game against Washington. He left in the third quarter. Trainers took him to the blue medical tent, then he went to the locker room. He did not return to play. Before the injury, he had 12 carries for 44 yards and caught six passes for 26 yards.
Jeff Mueller X post reads, Came up limping and favoring his Left foot. Looks like he gets clipped by the defender into his route. Probably more of a pain deal versus actual injury.
After the game, Hampton left the stadium in a walking boot. Reporters saw it on his left ankle. This raised concern. Walking boots are sometimes a precaution but do not always mean a major injury. The team listed him as questionable to come back late in the game, but kept him out. Some thought his pain was manageable and that the Chargers did not want to risk making it worse with the score out of reach.
Coach Jim Harbaugh gave no update after the game. No official word about how serious the injury is right now. Medical experts online guessed it could be a low ankle sprain, which may depend on pain tolerance. If the swelling is not bad, he might return soon, but the team will not rush it.
Hampton has had a strong start as a rookie. He became the main back after Najee Harris went out for the season with an Achilles injury. Hampton had over 270 yards and two touchdowns before this game. He broke out in Weeks three and four with big games on the ground and scored in both.
If Hampton cannot play next week, Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal could split his snaps. Both got some carries late in this game, but neither has done much yet this year.
Chargers fans are waiting for updates. For now, Hampton’s status for the next game is up in the air. He hurt his ankle, left in a boot, and the coaches have not said more. This team is already thin at running back.
Check for more news before the next game. Hampton could be back soon or might need time to heal. It just is not clear yet.
