Quinn Hughes Injury Update: Healthy After Trade to Minnesota Wild

Quinn Hughes Injury Update

Quinn Hughes is healthy right now. He is not on any current injury list and is expected to play for the Minnesota Wild after his trade from the Vancouver Canucks.

Earlier this season Hughes did miss time with multiple issues in Vancouver. On October 26 the Canucks listed him with a lower body injury and he sat out four games before returning at the start of November.

That stretch was treated as a short term problem and the team described him as day to day rather than shutting him down long term.

In mid November he picked up another knock. He briefly left a game against the Winnipeg Jets after taking a penalty and suffering what the team called an upper body issue.

He came back to finish that game but then missed practice and was ruled out against the Carolina Hurricanes with an undisclosed injury. At that point local reports again said he was day to day which matched the team status report.

Those injuries never turned into anything major. By late November Hughes was back in the lineup logging big minutes and putting up points again.

Before the trade he had 23 points in 23 games for Vancouver while averaging heavy ice time which shows the earlier issues were no longer limiting him.

The big news now is the move to Minnesota. On December 12 the Canucks sent him to the Wild in a blockbuster trade for Marco Rossi Zeev Buium Liam Ohgren and a first round pick.

Coverage of the deal from both markets describes him as a healthy top pairing defenceman who can step straight into the Wild lineup and push a team that is already in a strong playoff position.

For fantasy or betting purposes this means his injury risk is the usual one for a defenceman with heavy minutes. He has an active injury history this year with lower body and upper body problems but all were short spells.

There is no sign of surgery or a current rehab plan. If anything changes it will likely show first in team reports from the Wild or NHL status pages.

For now Hughes is cleared to play and should debut for Minnesota as soon as the team works him into its defensive pairs in the coming games.
