Shillong Teer is a traditional archery-based lottery game that is played daily in Shillong, Meghalaya, under the regulation of the Khasi Hills Archery Sports Association.
The game involves predicting the last two digits of the total number of arrows that hit the target during two rounds of archery. Tickets are sold at authorized counters, where players can choose a number between 00 and 99. In each of the two rounds, 50 archers shoot a set number of arrows, and the total number of arrows that hit the target determines the winning number for that round.
If a player’s selected number matches the last two digits of the total number of arrows, they win a prize. The prizes are modest, with a ₹1 bet yielding ₹80 for the first round and ₹60 for the second round.
Players can win up to ₹4,000 if they predict both rounds correctly. The game takes place twice daily, with draw timings in the morning and afternoon. While it is legal and regulated by the Meghalaya Amusements and Betting Tax Act, it is essential to play responsibly. Tickets are sold only through authorized channels, and players should beware of fraud or unlicensed operators.
