Spartacus: The House of Ashur Release Date
"Spartacus: House of Ashur" will release on Starz on December 5, 2025 less than three months from now! The first night will have two episodes back-to-back, so clear your weekend plans. After that, new episodes will drop every Friday. Fridays are about to get a lot more bloody and dramatic. One of my friends still hasn’t seen the original Spartacus, so I’m ready to tease him in the group chat again.
On Instagram, @Spartacus officially confirmed that the series is coming back, announcing:
"The show rages on. Don’t miss #Spartacus: House of Ashur with a two-episode premiere on December 5 on STARZ."

Why All the Buzz?
Simple answer: Ashur is back, and he’s got his own ludus. For the first time, the show's diving into a world where Ashur (played by Nick E. Tarabay, expert smirker and professional survivor) didn't kick the bucket in "Vengeance". Instead, he gets promoted to boss, ludus owner, and chief manipulator. Ever had a coworker fail upward into management? It’s basically thatjust with swords and more backstabbing, literally.
Steven S. DeKnight, the brains behind the original series, returns as showrunner, so seasoned fans can relax; the action’s in safe hands. Word on the street (and every fan forum since last year) is DeKnight mapped out at least five seasons ambitious, or possibly mad, but I admire the hustle.
The Cast That’ll Own Friday Nights
Besides Ashur, Graham McTavish shows up as Korris he’s everywhere these days, right? Achillia (Tenika Davis) makes waves as Spartacus’ first female gladiator, which I’m personally pumped to watch; her showdown with Tarchon (Jordi Webber) is already being hyped. If you need a cheat sheet, here’s a quick look:
-
Ashur (Nick E. Tarabay): Survivor and schemer.
-
Achillia (Tenika Davis): Gladiatrix rewriting the rules.
-
Korris (Graham McTavish): Old-school bruiser, new-school problems.
-
Tarchon (Jordi Webber): Rival, looking for trouble.
That’s just the tip. There’s Roman intrigue, wild politics, and the usual quota of shirtless warriors because, let’s face it, some traditions shouldn’t change.
What Makes This Different?
This time, betrayal isn’t just a bad habit, it’s a life skill. Political power plays are front and center, with Ashur now wielding... well, more power than he probably should. Achillia brings fresh energy a woman in the blood pit, eager to prove she’s more than a novelty act. Not to say I’m obsessed, but I just may have yelled in excitement during the announcement livestream . Also, Auckland gets another moment as the filming location; those landscapes never quit.
