Witcher 4 Tech Demo
CD Projekt Red has emphasized that the Witcher 4 tech demo shown during State of Unreal 2025 was not an actual gameplay showcase. The demo, running on a PlayStation 5 at 60 frames per second, was designed to demonstrate the capabilities of Unreal Engine 5.6. The visuals from the demo, however, provide a glimpse of the direction the game is heading towards.
The demo featured Ciri exploring Kovir, a previously unseen region in The Witcher 4 universe. As Ciri traversed the snowy landscape, accompanied by her horse Kelpie, the demonstration highlighted the realistic movement and interactions, especially with NPCs. The bustling marketplace scene with 300 animated characters showcased the level of detail and realism players can expect in Witcher 4's open world.
The Witcher IV
The Witcher IV is an upcoming action role-playing game developed by CD Projekt Red and published by CD Projekt. It is the first installment of a new trilogy in The Witcher series, which is based on the book series of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski.
The game follows the events of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (2015), continuing the saga of the world introduced in the previous titles. Unlike the previous games, which featured Geralt of Rivia as the protagonist, The Witcher IV introduces Ciri, Geralt's adoptive daughter, as the new central character.
