When Does Call of Duty Black Ops 7 Come Out?
Call of Duty Black Ops 7 releases on November 14, 2025. That's this Friday, and fans around the world have been waiting for this launch since the game was first revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase back in June.
There's no early access period this time around. Everyone gets to start playing at the exact same moment regardless of which edition they purchased.
What Platforms Get Black Ops 7
The game launches across multiple generations of consoles and PC. You can play on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S starting on day one.
Xbox Game Pass subscribers get access to the full game at launch without paying extra. That's a huge bonus if you're already subscribed to the service.
PC players have two options for downloading the game. It's available through both Battle.net and Steam, so you can choose whichever platform you prefer.
Xbox Play Anywhere support means you buy the game once on Xbox and can play on both your console and Windows PC. Your progress syncs between both platforms automatically.
The Co-Op Campaign and Endgame Mode
Black Ops 7 introduces something completely new to the franchise with its co-op campaign. This is the first time a Call of Duty game has featured a campaign designed specifically for team play from the ground up.
After completing the first 11 campaign missions, you unlock a mode called Endgame. This is where the real innovation happens and where you'll spend most of your post-campaign time.
Endgame takes place in Avalon, a massive Mediterranean city with different zones to explore. Up to 32 total players can be in the same instance fighting through escalating difficulty zones.
The mode is built around replayability. You complete dynamic assignments with your squad while earning progression that carries over to multiplayer and zombies.
When you enter Endgame, you create an Operator and choose abilities. Major abilities include things like Ballistic Shell (an energy shield), Active Camo (temporary invisibility), and War Machine (grenade launcher).
Minor abilities give you movement options. The Grappling Hook lets you escape danger and reach high places. Portal Grenade spawns hallucinations to distract enemies. Kinetic Jump launches you to extreme heights.
Skill Tracks and Progression
As you play Endgame, you earn Combat Rating by completing objectives and defeating enemies. Every time you level up your Combat Rating, you choose between two Skill Tracks that change how your Operator performs.
The Gunner track focuses on weapon mastery. You get faster reload speeds, better accuracy while moving, and eventually reloading creates an electric discharge that stuns nearby enemies.
Daredevil is all about aggressive movement. Your diving and sliding become weapons themselves, creating explosions when you hit the ground at high speeds.
Tactician players deploy equipment faster and recharge abilities quicker. Killing enemies with equipment can spawn more equipment as loot drops.
Berserker rewards aggressive play with increased fire rates and armor regeneration on kills. Chaining critical hits gives you temporary speed boosts.
Bulldozer turns you into a tank. You regenerate armor plates automatically, take less explosive damage, and can knock down enemies just by sprinting into them.
Your Combat Rating can reach level 60 in a single match. The higher you climb, the more powerful your Operator becomes through these stacking skills.
Unified Progression System
For the first time in Call of Duty history, everything you do counts toward everything else. Playing Campaign or Endgame earns you XP that levels up your global rank, just like multiplayer.
Weapon levels progress no matter which mode you're playing. If you level up a gun in Endgame, that progress carries over when you jump into multiplayer matches.
Battle Pass progression works across all modes too. You're not stuck grinding just multiplayer if you want to unlock seasonal content.
Even weapon camos unlock through challenges you complete in any mode. This gives players way more flexibility in how they want to play.
Multiplayer Content at Launch
Multiplayer launches with 18 maps total. There are 16 maps designed for the standard 6v6 format that Call of Duty is known for, plus two larger 20v20 maps for bigger battles.
The maps span diverse locations. You'll fight through futuristic Tokyo streets, frozen Alaskan wilderness, and everything in between. Each environment has its own tactical opportunities.
The new Omnimovement system changes how you navigate these maps. You can move omnidirectionally and perform wall jumps off certain surfaces for advanced mobility.
One change from Black Ops 6 is that Tactical Sprint is no longer a default ability. Instead, it's available as an in-game perk you can equip if you want that speed boost.
The perk system has three combat specialties. Enforcer, Recon, and Strategist each activate special bonuses when you equip three perks from the same specialty.
Black Ops 7 adds hybrid combat specialties too. Mix perks from two different specialties and you unlock different buffs than choosing all three from one category.
Zombies Mode Returns
Round-Based Zombies comes back with what developers are calling the biggest Round-Based Zombies map in Black Ops history. This is the mode fans have been playing since the original Black Ops.
You can play with up to four players in co-op. The undead creatures get progressively tougher as you survive more rounds.
Just like the campaign and multiplayer, any XP and progression you earn in Zombies feeds back into your global account. Nothing is wasted.
Development and Anti-Cheat
Treyarch Studios and Raven Software developed Black Ops 7 together. Both studios have deep Call of Duty experience and started working on this game at the same time they were finishing Black Ops 6.
RICOCHET Anti-Cheat launches alongside the game on day one. This is Activision's proprietary anti-cheat system designed to catch cheaters before they ruin matches.
PC players need to have TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot enabled on their systems. These are required security features to play Black Ops 7 on Windows.
The system uses machine learning to detect aimbots and other cheating software. It's constantly learning from new cheating methods.
PC Optimization and Features
Black Ops 7 on PC supports AMD FSR technologies for improved visual fidelity and performance. The game is optimized to run smoothly on a wide range of hardware configurations.
Handheld gaming devices are supported too. If you play on Steam Deck or similar devices, the game includes enhancements to keep gameplay smooth on the go.
Preloading started on November 10 for players who preordered. That gives you time to download the massive file sizes modern Call of Duty games require.
What Makes This Black Ops Different?
Black Ops 7 is a direct sequel to Black Ops 6 from last year. The story continues following David "Section" Mason and his JSOC unit on a covert operation.
The game competes directly with Battlefield 6, which also targets the futuristic military shooter audience. But early previews suggest Black Ops 7 has the edge in content variety.
This is being marketed as the biggest Black Ops ever. Between the co-op campaign, 18 multiplayer maps, massive Zombies map, and the entirely new Endgame mode, there's more content at launch than previous entries.
The unified progression system means you're never locked into one mode. Play what you enjoy and still make progress toward everything you want to unlock.
