Yoane Wissa Injury Update: Knee Injury Worse Than Expected, Out for Several Weeks

Yoane Wissa Injury Update

Yoane Wissa’s knee injury is worse than first thought. Newcastle said he will be out longer than planned. At first the club hoped he would be back after the next international break. Now doctors think he will need around eight weeks to heal. His return might not come until early November at the soonest.

Fabrizio Romano post reads, Yoane Wissa remains out until after October international break.

He got hurt while playing for DR Congo on international duty. He joined Newcastle from Brentford at the start of September. He has not yet trained with the team.

The injury is to his knee, but he does not need surgery right now. Newcastle bosses sent him to see a specialist. The new timetable means he will miss at least five more matches.

Manager Eddie Howe said Wissa had a follow-up check on Thursday. He confirmed it is not a new injury but said it will take longer to heal than first thought. The plan still is to avoid surgery and let him recover naturally.

There is no talk about him playing again before November. Howe also said the team will keep monitoring him and there is no rush to return early.

Wissa had a strong season last year at Brentford, scoring 18 goals. Newcastle paid £55 million for him. He was expected to be a key player, but his injury has left the team a bit short on attacking options for now.

For fans waiting to see him play, patience will be needed. The club hopes he will be ready for the West Ham match in early November. Any earlier comeback now looks unlikely.
