Zach Edey Injury Update
Zach Edey left the Memphis Grizzlies game on November 24 with a head injury. He got hurt in the first quarter against Denver and did not return. Team staff called him doubtful to come back during the game. The coach said Edey took a hit to the head and they had no other information right after the game. It is not clear how serious his injury is yet or how much time he will miss.
Edey just got back from ankle surgery. He missed the first part of the NBA season and only played a few games before this head injury happened. Grizzlies doctors are still checking on him. They have not confirmed when he will play next.
Before the injury, Edey was showing improvement each game. In his return, he averaged about 12 points with 9 rebounds and 2 blocks per night. He had a set limit on his minutes because of the ankle and rarely played more than 25 or 26 minutes in a game. Even with limited playing time, his defense and rebounding helped Memphis stay competitive.
When Edey got hurt, he had just 2 points and a rebound. He matched up with Denver’s Nikola Jokic, which made his absence a big deal for the Grizzlies defense in that game. Jokic scored easily after Edey left, and Memphis missed Edey’s size and presence in the paint.
For now, fans have to wait for more news. Edey is under observation. Updates on how he feels or when he might return will come after doctors review his tests and symptoms. No one knows yet if the head injury will keep him out for more than a game or two.
