When Are The Fortnite Servers Back Up?
Fortnite fans are well aware: when a big update drops, the wait is always the hardest part. Today, servers went offline bright and early—maintenance for the highly anticipated v36.30 patch kicked off right at 4 AM ET on July 29, 2025. If you’ve tried to hop in for a quick game and got hit with the dreaded connection error, you’re definitely not alone.
Fortunately, this downtime isn’t expected to drag on. Based on how previous patch days have gone, the servers should be back up and running sometime around 7 AM ET (that’s 4 AM PT, or 11 AM UTC), give or take. Of course, if Epic runs into any last-minute hiccups or heavy server traffic, it might take a little longer, but they’re usually pretty punctual. They also do a solid job of keeping everyone posted on X (formerly Twitter) and other official channels if timelines shift at all.
On X/Twitter, the official server update team @FortniteStatus shared a post:
"The downtime for the v36.30 patch update started at 4 AM ET, with matchmaking closing 30 minutes prior to the maintenance."

So what's the wait for? This patch is a big one—Epic’s promising new features, loads of fresh cosmetics, and even prepping Fortnite for an upcoming live event that has the community buzzing. As soon as the update finishes, players can look forward to diving into new content and exploring all the surprises Epic has lined up.
For now, patience is key. Give it a couple of hours (grab breakfast, check the patch notes, clear some space on your console) and Fortnite should be ready to play again before you know it. Once servers are live, get in quick and be among the first to experience everything the new patch has to offer. The countdown to the next live event just got a lot more exciting!
