Is Shrek 5 Delayed?
Yes, Shrek 5 is delayed. Again. The film has slid from its original slot more times than Donkey has made waffles, and now Shrek 5 is officially wandering into theaters on June 30, 2027. That’s right, we’re waiting until the summer of ‘27 for a fresh trip to Far Far Away.
What’s the story behind these detours? First, Shrek 5 was supposed to arrive on July 1, 2026. Then it lost that date to... another Minions movie. Because of course it did. Universal pushed Shrek and his pals over to December 23, 2026. I mentally prepped for ogres and holiday fruitcake.
But surprise! Shrek and company have packed up their tiny bindles again, with Universal nudging them to June 2027. According to The Hollywood Handle on Twitter, Shrek 5 has been pushed back, now slated for a June 30, 2027, release over half a year later than its initially planned debut.

TRAFON’s Backup Account on Twitter noted that Shrek 5 will now arrive on June 30, 2027, marking roughly a six-month delay from its original December 2026 release plan.

The official teaser dropped in February 2025 and, listen, it immediately set the internet on fire. Mainly because Shrek suddenly looked...different. Like he went on a tech-fueled spa retreat and came back a sparkly, digital version of himself.
