Nothing Os 4.0 Android 16 Update Release Date And Features

Nothing OS 4.0 Update Release Date

The Nothing OS 4.0 update, built on Android 16, officially starts rolling out on 21 November 2025. It’s the moment Nothing phone users have circled on their calendars, especially after that teasing open beta, which felt like a never-ending appetiser platter.

On a post shared on X, Nothing (@nothing) announced the release of Nothing OS 4.0, inviting users to let their phone bring flow to their life. The general release was made available on November 21.

Beta testers get a tip of the hat; their feedback gave the update its finishing polish. Now, the big release is here. But this isn’t a firehose launch: the rollout happens in waves, so if your device doesn’t get it on day one, don’t panic or spam “update” in your settings like it’s a contest. Some users might see it immediately; others will need a smidge more patience as the push expands.

Nothing OS 4.0 Update Features

This time, Nothing OS 4.0 is not just another Android skin. The update brings a sharper design, better performance, and a handful of features that aim to make phones feel fresh like you just unboxed them, but with all your memes and contacts already in place.

  • Right from first boot, the vibe is cleaner, calmer, and more “Nothing-esque.” Expect a visual refresh that leans even harder into the company’s unique style:

  • Extra Dark Mode: For all the late-night doomscrollers and nocturnal texters. It’s easier on the eyes and, honestly, a welcome excuse to stay up.

  • Pop-Up View: Imagine juggling WhatsApp, YouTube, and a crypto chart on the bus without losing your place. Two floating app icons, swipe to resize or expand.

  • New Quick Settings Tile (2×2): Fast access to your favourite bits; perfect for those who don’t want to tap six menus just to fire up Wi-Fi.

  • Lock Screen Styles: Two additional clock layouts. Maybe not life-changing, but for anyone who’s bored by their old lock screen, it’s a small serotonin boost.

  • Essential Apps & Playground: Home screen widgets designed by users and easily shared. If you’ve ever felt like your phone wasn’t “you” enough, this could tip the scales.

  • Performance and stability also get some love. The update aims for smoother multitasking, faster app launches, tighter Bluetooth and Wi-Fi reliability, and refreshed camera consistency. Even the animation pacing was tuned to feel lighter.

On a post shared on X, TechiBoy (@techiboy96) reported that Carl mentioned they are exploring ways to bring Quick Share → AirDrop compatibility to Nothing Phones. This development marks a step toward making cross-platform sharing a reality.

Supported Devices

The first access list for Nothing OS 4.0 is led by Nothing’s newer releases. On launch, Nothing Phone (2), Phone (3), Phone (2a), Phone (2a) Plus, Phone (3a), and Phone (3a) Pro are primed for the update. Expect the Phone (3a) Lite and CMF series to join soon after. Older models like Phone (1) are out they’ve reached the end of official updates. If you’re holding one of these supported handsets, keep an eye on your update screen—rollouts are staggered, but you’re first in line.
