August 2025 marks a significant month for PlayStation Plus subscribers as Sony celebrates the service’s 15th anniversary. With a fresh batch of free games announced and commemorative avatars up for grabs, there’s plenty to look forward to for players across Essential, Extra, and Premium tiers.
Playstation Plus Monthly Free Games for August 2025
This August, PlayStation Plus members get access to three varied titles: Lies of P, DayZ, and My Hero One’s Justice 2. The games are available to claim from August 5 through September 1. It doesn't matter which tier you subscribe to; everyone gets the same three games.
- Lies of P (PS5, PS4): An action RPG from NEOWIZ and Round8 Studio. Set in a bleak, Belle Époque-inspired city plagued by deranged puppets, players guide Pinocchio in search of Geppetto. The Soulslike combat and haunting atmosphere have drawn attention from those who enjoyed games like Bloodborne.
- DayZ (PS4): Bohemia Interactive’s classic survival title. Whether you’re dodging zombies or other players in the lawless landscape, it’s a permanent test of resourcefulness and grit.
- My Hero One’s Justice 2 (PS4): Based on the popular My Hero Academia anime, this 3D arena fighter lets fans relive key moments, pitting characters from UA High in kinetic, over-the-top battles.
Notably, both DayZ and My Hero One’s Justice 2 are PS4 games but can be played on PS5 through backward compatibility.
Game Variety and Player Reception
While Lies of P leads this month’s offering with its dark, Pinocchio-inspired Soulslike gameplay, the presence of DayZ ensures that any fan of survival games will have plenty to chew on.
DayZ’s persistence over the years in the multiplayer sphere suggests the community for the title is still active. Meanwhile, My Hero One’s Justice 2 brings in the anime crowd, ensuring variety for a wide base of subscribers.
There’s also a steady stream of feedback from players expressing excitement over the diversity of genres this month. Social media posts point to many welcoming Lies of P for its challenge, while others are planning late-night DayZ sessions or looking forward to anime showdowns in My Hero One’s Justice 2.
Claiming the Games
Remember, these titles are available to claim starting August 5 and will remain until September 1. As usual, they are yours to play as long as you have an active PlayStation Plus subscription. If you haven’t claimed July’s games yet (which included Diablo IV and The King of Fighters XV), you have until August 4 to do so.
