Samsung Galaxy S26 Series Launch Date, Prices, Camera, Features, Battery
Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Series is tipped for an early 2026 release, taking place at a Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco. Most leaks agree the launch will happen around February 25, with Indian availability expected soon after, likely just a few weeks into March. The timeline is a little later than previous years because Samsung is putting a spotlight on new AI capabilities and device redesigns this cycle. It’s the sort of delay people grumble about, but for tech fans it mostly means more speculation and meme-worthy countdowns.
S26 Series pricing doesn’t stray far from tradition, but inflation and upgraded hardware have nudged things upward. In India, the standard Galaxy S26 is projected to launch close to ₹80,000, while the S26 Ultra could approach ₹1,60,000. These tags include Samsung’s usual mix of pre-order offers, think cashback or earbuds bundled in, if history repeats itself. International prices line up slightly higher, especially for the Ultra, which pitches itself directly against Apple’s top iPhone variant.
On the camera front, Samsung’s been pushing for nuanced change. The S26 Ultra’s module now features a pill-shaped island with triple or quad lenses, moving away from the individually ringed sensors that drew mixed reviews last time. Central to the kit, a high-res primary shooter is expected, possibly a custom 200MP sensor, paired with improved optical zoom. The Ultra’s upgrades focus on details: better low-light, more natural skin tones, and AI-driven “Instant Focus” tech. Most day-to-day users just want good cat photos or sharp Diwali snaps, so a subtle step up without going over the top should hit the mark. The standard and models, meanwhile, keep things simple, with only minimal tweaks to front camera performance and post-processing algorithms.
Feature-wise, the S26 series leans hard into new AI tools: live translation, photo sorting, and smarter assistant features built around Samsung’s in-house generative AI, reportedly far faster than before. The hardware side shows off Samsung’s new Exynos 2600 (rumored to be 2nm), or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 on global units. Expect 12GB RAM on Ultra, up to 512GB storage, an LTPO AMOLED with 120Hz refresh rate, and stereo speakers. There’s a slim-down in design for the Ultra; the usual IP68 rating, in-display fingerprint, and wireless charging are all here.
Battery capacity has edged up, with the S26 Ultra looking at a 5,500mAh cell and 60W fast charging. Even the standard models have seen increases to about 4,500mAh and 65W, maintaining wireless charging at up to 15W. Actual endurance is supposed to jump, but most users know new phones are only impressive until the fourth hour of back-to-back video calls and gaming. Anecdotally, several leak reviewers have tried beta units; one claimed they streamed cricket for hours with barely a dent in the Ultra’s meter, so maybe this year Samsung’s claims live up to real life.
