Saros Release Date
Saros was first announced with a general 2026 window during a PlayStation State of Play show in early 2025. Later, the studio confirmed a date of 20 March 2026 during a follow up State of Play along with the first big gameplay demo.
At The Game Awards 2025 the team revealed a new trailer and quietly pushed the launch to 30 April 2026. Multiple outlets and the official PlayStation marketing now list 30 April 2026 as the updated release date for Saros.
Saros Trailer
The first Saros trailer was a cinematic reveal that set up the sci fi setting on the planet Carcosa under a constant eclipse. It introduced the main character Arjun Devraj who is a Soltari Enforcer searching a lost off world colony, with actor Rahul Kohli in the lead role.
A later pre order trailer shown at The Game Awards 2025 mixes story beats with more combat shots and confirms the April 30 date.
These trailers focus on a dark tone with mysterious corridors, a central hub area called the Passage, and glimpses of the wider cast of NPCs.
Saros Gameplay
Saros is a third person action game with strong roguelite elements from Housemarque, the studio behind Returnal. Each run takes place on a shifting Carcosa where deaths reset the world layout while long term upgrades to weapons and suit stay with the player.
Combat uses fast movement, dodge timing, and a mix of ranged and melee attacks against dense patterns of enemy projectiles.
A key system is the Soltari Shield which absorbs incoming shots and converts them into energy for powerful counter attacks through the Carcosan Power Weapon, plus a Second Chance revive ability tied to permanent progression.
