BARC RA Fellowship Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria
- Research Associate (Ph.D. Projects): Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in the relevant discipline as specified for each Research Project - including Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Polymer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biosciences, Agriculture, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Materials Science and related fields.
- Research Associate (Project No. 21 - Muon Tomography): Candidates must have B.Tech/B.E./M.Tech/M.E. in Electronics, Electronics & Telecommunication, Computer Science, Information Technology or Electronics & Computer Engineering with one year of relevant experience preferred.
- Experience: Relevant post-Ph.D. research experience in the specific field as detailed against each project is desirable/preferred. Candidates who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis and are awaiting evaluation are not eligible.
- Age Limit: No specific age limit mentioned; candidates should meet BARC/DST fellowship norms applicable for Research Associates.
BARC RA Fellowship Recruitment 2026 - Fellowship Amount
- Selected candidates under BARC RA Fellowship Recruitment 2026 will be placed at one of three fellowship levels - RA-I, RA-II or RA-III - based on qualifications, experience and performance in the selection interview.
- Fellowship Details: RA-I carries Rs. 58,000/- per month plus Contingency Grant of Rs. 20,000/- per annum plus HRA as applicable. RA-II and RA-III carry higher fellowship amounts plus Contingency Grant and HRA as per BARC norms. The level will be decided by the interview committee based on quality of Ph.D. thesis, post-Ph.D. research experience, publications/products and performance in interview.
- Note: Hostel accommodation will not be provided to Research Associates.
- RA-I: 58,000/- p.m. plus Contingency Grant of 60,000/- per annum plus HRA as applicable.
- RA-II : 61,000/- p.m. plus Contingency Grant of 60,000/- per annum plus HRA as applicable.

BARC RA Fellowship Recruitment 2026 Selection Process
- The BARC Research Associate Fellowship Recruitment 2026 selection will be conducted through screening of applications followed by a personal interview - no written exam.
- Stage 1 - Screening: Applications received will be subject to screening based on qualifications, experience and relevance to the research project. Only screened-in candidates will be called for interview. All information related to selection will be made available on www.barc.gov.in.
- Stage 2 - Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed. The RA fellowship level (RA-I / RA-II / RA-III) will be decided by the interview committee based on: (i) quality of Ph.D. thesis, (ii) post-Ph.D. research experience as evidenced from publications and/or products/processes developed, and (iii) performance in the selection interview. Candidates must bring a copy of the application and a valid photo identity card (Aadhaar, Passport, Driving License, College ID or Voter ID) and all original documents at the time of interview.
