M.A govt job vacancies are announced regularly by UPSC, SSC, central and state universities, State Public Service Commissions, the Central Hindi Directorate and departmental translation cadres, the Archaeological Survey of India, the National Archives, State Social Welfare and Labour Departments, and research councils such as ICSSR and ICHR. Vacancy numbers and recruiting bodies change through the year, so it helps to follow a listing that is updated daily.

Applications are submitted through the recruiting organisation's official website - you register, enter your postgraduate degree, subject, and marks details, upload the required documents (degree certificate, marksheets, NET or SET certificate where applicable, B.Ed certificate for teaching posts, category certificate, photo, signature), pay the application fee if applicable, and submit before the last date. Some academic and research recruitments also require a hard copy of the application, so check the official notification.

Candidates need an M.A in a relevant subject from a recognised university, and many posts specify a minimum percentage of marks. Teaching posts in colleges require UGC NET, SET, or an equivalent qualification as per the applicable regulations, while school teaching posts require B.Ed along with the prescribed subject combination. Age limits usually fall between 21 and 35 years depending on the post, with relaxation for reserved categories as per government norms - exact criteria vary by organisation and post.

Post Graduate Teacher posts in central school systems fall under Pay Level 8 of the 7th Pay Commission, with a basic pay of ₹47,600, while Assistant Professor posts follow the UGC academic pay matrix, starting at Academic Level 10 with a basic pay of ₹57,700. Translator, welfare, and other Group B posts commonly fall between Pay Level 6 and Pay Level 7, where basic pay starts at ₹35,400 and ₹44,900 respectively. Research fellowships are paid as a fixed monthly stipend set by the funding agency rather than under the pay matrix, so always check the pay details given in the official notification.

Selection usually involves a written or computer-based exam followed by an interview and document verification. Teaching posts are commonly filled through shortlisting on academic record, a written test or interview, and often a demonstration lecture, while translation posts include a translation skill test. Administrative posts follow a preliminary and main exam pattern with an interview at the final stage. The exact process is mentioned in each specific notification.
