The tenure post carries a three-year term, and online registration is open from 25 August 2026 to 8 September 2026 through the official BCECEB portal.

BCECEB Senior Resident/Tutor Eligibility Criteria
- As per the NMC (Teachers Eligibility Qualifications in Medical Institutions Regulations, 2025), DNB / DNB Super Speciality qualifications are also recognized as valid for selection to the Senior Resident/Tutor post.
- The minimum educational qualification for Senior Resident/Tutor posts is a Postgraduate degree in the concerned subject/specialty.
- Only in case of a shortage of eligible postgraduate-degree candidates, candidates with a minimum qualification of Postgraduate Diploma in the relevant subject will be considered; however, such diploma holders will have 10 marks deducted in the merit list compared to postgraduate degree holders, and postgraduate degree holders will rank higher in merit even if diploma holders secure the same marks.
- Candidates holding a postgraduate qualification recognized as equivalent under Medical Council teacher eligibility qualification norms are also eligible to apply.
Category-wise Distribution of Senior Resident/Tutor Posts
- 40% of posts will be filled from members of the Bihar State Health Service cadre.
- 40% of posts will be filled from doctors who completed their postgraduate degree course (under the Residency Scheme) from medical/dental colleges within the State of Bihar.
- The remaining 20% of posts will be filled from doctors who obtained their postgraduate degree (Residency Scheme) from recognized institutions outside the State of Bihar.
BCECEB Senior Resident/Tutor Age Limit
The age limit is calculated as on 1 August 2026, as per General Administration Department Resolution No. 294 dated 7 January 2016.

- Members of the Bihar State Health Service cadre are entitled to a 5-year age relaxation as per the applicable service rules.
- Candidates who complete the eligibility conditions between 1 August 2025 and 1 August 2026 are also covered under this age limit, provided they meet other eligibility conditions.
- Persons with Disabilities (Divyang) are entitled to an additional 10-year relaxation in the maximum age limit; however, only one relaxation provision (either on the basis of disability or any other applicable basis) can be availed - the two cannot be combined.
BCECEB Senior Resident/Tutor Reservation Policy
The panel for tenure posts will be prepared as per the reservation policy notified by the Government of Bihar. Reserved category applicants must submit their caste certificate through the competent authority. Reservation benefit will be granted only on submission of a Non-Creamy Layer caste certificate applicable to the State of Bihar; candidates who do not submit such a certificate will be treated as belonging to the Unreserved category. Reservation for women, differently-abled candidates, and freedom fighters' grandchildren/granddaughters will be provided as per the norms prescribed by the General Administration Department.
BCECEB Senior Resident/Tutor Terms for Appointment to Tenure Post
- Only the subjects mentioned in the Prospectus will be filled through this panel.
- Doctors holding a postgraduate qualification in more than one subject and wishing to apply for multiple subjects must apply separately, department-wise, and mention this clearly in their online application.
- Candidates whose degree is not recognized by MCI/DCI/NMC will not be considered for candidature.
- Upon appointment to the tenure post, doctors will be paid as per Pay Level-09; those already serving in the Health Service cadre will continue to draw their existing pay, along with Dearness Allowance and other admissible allowances.
- Candidates who have already completed a three-year tenure as Senior Resident/Tutor in a particular subject are not eligible for reappointment to the tenure (three-year) post in the same subject.
- As per Health Department Order No. 91(17) dated 27 January 2023, PG degree/diploma holders bound by a three-year service bond, who have not yet been posted as Senior Resident/Tutor at any medical college or hospital, will be given an opportunity to fill vacant tenure posts, subject to recommendation and departmental NOC - for such candidates, the tenure period will be counted from the date of joining.
BCECEB Senior Resident/Tutor Salary
Selected candidates appointed to the tenure post of Senior Resident/Tutor will be paid as per Pay Level-09 of the pay matrix, along with Dearness Allowance (DA) and other admissible allowances. Doctors already serving in the Bihar State Health Service cadre will continue to draw their existing pay along with DA and other permissible allowances.

The Counselling Fee must be paid online only, through Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI; an additional processing charge applies for online payment. The fee, once paid, is non-refundable, except in cases of a failed transaction, where the amount will be refunded to the candidate's account in due course. BCECEB Senior Resident/Tutor Selection Process
- A merit panel will be prepared for the tenure posts of Senior Resident/Tutor based on educational qualification and the applicable reservation policy.
- Postgraduate degree holders will rank higher in merit than postgraduate diploma holders, even in case of equal marks.
- Selected/shortlisted candidates will be intimated about the Counselling/Interview schedule after submission of the application.
- Candidates must appear for Counselling/Document Verification on the scheduled date with all required original certificates and one extra photocopy of each.
- No travel allowance will be paid for attending the Counselling.
- The Department's decision regarding post-selection posting will be final, and no claims regarding posting will be entertained.

Candidates must produce the following original certificates, along with one extra photocopy of each, at the time of Counselling/Document Verification:
- Admit Card/Original Marksheet/Certificate of Matriculation or equivalent
- Marksheet of MBBS/BDS (Parts I, II & III)
- Passing Certificate of MBBS/BDS
- Attempt Certificate of MBBS/BDS
- Marksheet/Passing Certificate of the Speciality subject
- Certificate of PhD/DM/MCh/MSc, if applicable
- Medical Registration Certificate
- Experience Certificate, if any
- Attested copy of No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the employer, if the applicant is in service
- Current Caste Certificate with Non-Creamy Layer, issued by the D.M./S.D.O. (Civil)/C.O./Revenue Officer of the district of permanent residence in Bihar
- Residential Certificate issued by the C.O./B.D.O./Revenue Officer of the concerned area
- Four identical photographs, as used while filling the online application
- Disability Certificate issued by a Competent Medical Board/Authority, for Disabled Quota (DQ) candidates
- Economically Weaker Section (EWS) certificate issued by the D.M./S.D.O. of the district of permanent residence
- Grandson/Granddaughter of Freedom Fighter quota certificate, issued by the proper authority, if applicable

How to Apply for BCECEB Senior Resident/Tutor Recruitment 2026(II)
- Visit the official website bceceboard.bihar.gov.in and download the Prospectus for detailed eligibility and instructions.
- Click on the "Online Portal of Senior Resident/Tutor under Health Dept." link, then click "Apply for Senior Resident/Tutor" and select "New Registration."
- Step 1 (Registration): Fill in all information correctly using only your own or your parent's email ID and mobile number, and verify the OTPs sent to both. These cannot be changed after verification.
- Step 2 (Multi-Step Application Form): Complete Department Selection, Personal Information, Contact Details, and Educational Information sections, clicking "Save & Continue" after each. Upload a scanned colour photograph and signature, along with a live photograph, as instructed.
- Step 3 (Application Preview & Final Submit): Review all entries, use "Back to Edit" to correct any anomalies, and then click "Final Submit & Proceed to Payment."
- Step 4 (Payment of Counselling Fee): Complete the payment of ₹2,250/- through Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI, along with the applicable processing charge.
- Step 5 (Download Confirmation Page & Fee Receipt): Download and verify the Confirmation Page and Fee Receipt; corrections, if any, can be made only during the specified Online Editing period (9 September 2026).

BCECEB Senior Resident/Tutor Important Instructions
- An incompletely filled, altered, or tampered online application will be rejected.
- Candidates must carefully fill in their reservation category, taking into account the reservation policy/rules applicable in the State of Bihar, before starting the online application process.
- The hard copy of the application form need not be sent to the Board's office; it must instead be made available at the time of Counselling.
- Once the online application form is finally submitted, no change or modification is permitted, and the application cannot be withdrawn; no request for refund/chargeback of the paid Counselling Fee will be entertained.
- The Board will not be responsible for any interruption in Internet or banking systems - candidates should not wait until the last date to complete the process.
- Detailed eligibility, educational and residential qualifications, and other rules/conditions are available in the Prospectus on the BCECEB website.
- The Department's decision on post-selection posting is final, and no claim regarding posting will be entertained.
- No travel allowance will be paid for Counselling.
