CSL Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be domicile of Kerala and must have passed their qualifying examination during 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026. Post-wise minimum qualification is as follows.

Category I – Graduate Apprentices

  • A Degree in Engineering or Technology granted by a Statutory University in the relevant discipline; or
  • A Degree in Engineering or Technology granted by an institution empowered to grant such a degree by an Act of Parliament in the relevant discipline; or
  • A graduate examination of professional bodies recognised by the State or Central Government as equivalent to the above.

Category II – Technician (Diploma) Apprentices

  • For Sl. No. 1 to 6 (Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Instrumentation Technology, Civil, and Computer Engineering): a Diploma in Engineering or Technology granted by a State Council/Board of Technical Education, a University, or an institution recognised by the State or Central Government as equivalent, in the relevant discipline.
  • For Sl. No. 7 (Commercial Practice): a Diploma in Commercial Practice granted by an institution recognised by the State or Central Government.

Candidates with a CGPA/OGPA/CPI instead of a percentage or class of marks will have their grade point converted using the conversion criteria defined by their University/Institute/Board; where no such criteria exist, the Aggregate Grade Point will be multiplied by 10 to arrive at the equivalent percentage. Candidates holding qualifications equivalent to the prescribed ones must submit an Equivalency Certificate issued by a competent authority; without this certificate, their candidature will not be considered. Candidates who have already undergone, or are currently undergoing, apprenticeship training under the Apprentices (Amendment) Act 1973 in any Government, Public Sector, or Private organisation are not eligible to apply.

CSL Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Age Limit

Candidates must be above 18 years of age as on 1 September 2026. Reservation of training seats for SC, ST, OBC, and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) will follow applicable Government of India directives. Minimum physical standards are as prescribed in Clause 4 of the Apprenticeship Rules 1992, and any amendments thereof.

No travel expenses are admissible during the apprenticeship training period, and CSL will not provide boarding or lodging. The training duration is one year as per the Apprentices (Amendment) Act 1973, and completion of apprenticeship does not entitle the apprentice to any claim of employment with CSL.

CSL Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

  • Only candidates who are domicile of Kerala will be considered.
  • Shortlisting is based on the percentage of marks obtained in the basic prescribed qualification for the respective discipline.
  • If multiple candidates secure the same percentage of marks, relative merit is decided by seniority in the year of passing; if the passing year is also identical, precedence goes to the candidate senior in age (by date of birth).
  • Shortlisted candidates must attend certificate verification with original documents (age, qualification, marks, caste, disability certificate if applicable) along with self-attested copies. Candidates who fail to produce originals will be rejected.
  • Candidates who successfully complete certificate verification will be provisionally selected against the notified training seats in order of merit/reservation, subject to medical fitness.

For candidates already registered on the old Apprentice portal (portal.mhrdnats.gov.in)

  1. Activate your account on nats.education.gov.in using the "Forgot Password" option on the student login page.
  2. Log in and complete the application form, ensuring all details are correct.
  3. After account activation, log in, search "Cochin Shipyard Limited" under "Apply against advertised vacancies," and click Apply. The status will show as "Applied."

For candidates with no prior registration on the old Apprentice portal

  1. Go to nats.education.gov.in.
  2. Click "Student," then "Student Register," and complete the application form. A unique Enrolment Number will be generated.
