This initiative aims to provide quality legal assistance to accused persons in criminal cases from pre-arrest stage to appeal and all intermediate stages. A total of 10 posts are available: 01 Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel, 03 Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsels, and 06 Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsels, exclusively for the District Legal Services Authority, MP.
The positions are full-time contractual roles where selected advocates will handle cases assigned by DLSA MP and are prohibited from undertaking any private practice during the contract period. Honorarium ranges from Rs. 35,000/- for Assistant to Rs. 80,000/- for Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel, based on minimum bar practice experience (0-3 years for Assistant, 7 years for Deputy Chief, and 10 years for Chief in specified courts). Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination in the year 2022, 2023, 2024 & 2025 only are eligible to apply.
- Candidates who are appearing for the qualifying exam, awaiting results, or who do not possess mark sheets and degree/diploma certificate (provisional or final) are not eligible.
- Candidates who have previously been engaged as apprentices or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training at New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) or elsewhere under the Apprentices Act, 1961/Apprentices Amendment Act, 1973 are not eligible.
- All specified qualifications must be recognized by the concerned university and Board of Technical Education.

General Information/Instructions
- The engagement as apprentice is purely for training purposes for a duration of one year only. It will be terminated upon completion of one year.
