ICG CGEPT Recruitment 2026 Overview

Indian Coast Guard (ICG) is recruiting Enrolled Persons through the Coast Guard Enrolled Persons Test (CGEPT) for Batches 01/2027 and 02/2027. ICG CGEPT Eligibility Criteria

Online applications are invited from male and female Indian citizens possessing the educational qualifications and age prescribed for recruitment as an Enrolled Person in the Indian Coast Guard through the Staff Selection Commission. A candidate may apply for only one post.

Important Notes on Qualification

  • Candidates are to fill marks of all subjects as mentioned in their marksheet while filling the online application. Incorrect or incomplete filling of marks in the online application will lead to cancellation of candidature.
  • Candidates applying for the post of Yantrik and not in possession of the original diploma certificate prior to the Stage-II recruitment process must bring and upload a provisional diploma certificate duly signed by the College/University Head during Stage-II. It is mandatory to bring the original diploma certificate during Stage-III. If original documents are not available at Stage-III, the candidature will be cancelled.
  • Candidates from “Open Schools” institutes not recognised by AICTE/COBSE are not eligible.

ICG CGEPT Application Fee

Candidates, except those entitled and desirous of applying in vacancies for the SC/ST category, are required to pay a fee of Rs. 550/- (Rupees Five Hundred and Fifty Only). SC/ST candidates are exempted from payment of the fee. The fee is paid online through net banking or by using Visa/Master/Maestro/Debit Card/UPI. The E-admit card will be issued for the examination only to those candidates who have successfully paid the examination fee and who are entitled to waiver of examination fee.

  • Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances nor can the fee be held in reserve for any other examination or selection.
  • Candidates applying for vacancies under the SC/ST category are entitled to waiver of examination fee. Candidates are liable to be discharged/rejected at any stage of recruitment if it is found that a false SC/ST certificate has been produced to claim waiver of examination fee/other concessions as applicable.
  • If an online payment has been made and money has been deducted from the account (i.e. unsuccessful payment), candidates should check whether fees is auto refunded to the transaction originating account, or wait for 15 working days for automatic refund of money to the account and check transaction status in the originating account.
  • If multiple payments are received from a candidate against a single application, that will not be refunded.

The notification gives the basic pay for each post along with Dearness Allowance and other allowances based on the nature of duty and place of posting, as per the prevailing regulations.

ICG CGEPT Selection Process

The selection is based on performance in Stage-I, Stage-II, Stage-III and Stage-IV, meeting the laid down medical standards during medical examination and the number of vacancies available for the post in the respective batch. Qualification in Stage-I, II, III and IV is compulsory for recruitment in ICG.

  • Selection of candidates for the post of Yantrik will be only for CGEPT-01/27, and for Navik (DB) and Hygienist-I only for CGEPT-02/27.
  • Selection of candidates for the post of Navik (GD) in either CGEPT-01/27 or CGEPT-02/27 batch will be based on order of merit, available vacancies and administrative requirement. Candidates cannot claim their selection in a particular batch.
  • All candidates will be compulsorily subjected to identity check prior to commencement of the examination at Stage-I, II and III of CGEPT. The identity check includes verification/matching at all stages of the selection procedure.

Live Image Capture and Biometric

  • The candidate has to upload the latest photograph during registration. A live image of the candidate will also be captured during registration, and its facial features will be matched against the uploaded photograph and the real-time photo captured during the online application. The photograph in the application form will be matched with facial features and physical appearance of the candidate at all subsequent stages.
  • Only left thumb biometric will be captured at the Stage-I recruitment centre before the online exam. If the biometric of the left thumb is not captured during Stage-I, then the biometric of the right thumb will be captured and used for subsequent verification. Apart from left and right thumb, no other finger will be considered for biometric.
  • It is the candidate’s responsibility to check beforehand that the biometric machines are able to capture the fingerprint image. Due to Mehndi, wax, etc., if the biometric machine is not able to capture the fingerprint image, the candidate will not be allowed to appear in the examination.
  • Failure in even one of the identity checks at any stage will lead to cancellation of candidature.

Stage-I: Computer Based Online Examination

  • A Computer Based Examination (CBE) with a total of 100 questions, each carrying 01 mark, will be conducted. The question paper will be bilingual (Hindi and English) and objective type (Multiple Choice Questions). Duration of the examination is one hour. There is no negative marking for wrong answers. The detailed syllabus is available at www.ssc.gov.in.
  • Candidates will be required to bring the following documents at the reporting centre: valid original identity proof (Aadhaar Card OR PAN Card OR Voter ID card OR Driving License OR Passport) as submitted/uploaded in the online application; one printout of E-admit card (B&W printout of E-admit card will be accepted provided the candidate’s photograph, QR codes and all other details are clearly visible/legible); and two in no. passport size colour photographs as uploaded in the online application.
  • If the exam is conducted in multiple shifts, marks scored will be normalised and these normalised scores will be used to determine final merit and cut-off marks.
  • The result of Stage-I will be uploaded on the candidate’s dashboard on www.ssc.gov.in.

Stage-II: Recruitment Process at Recruitment Centres

Stage-II is held at Recruitment Centres specified by ICG. Based on performance in the Computer Based Online Examination and the handling capacity of ICG Recruitment Centres, candidates will be shortlisted for Stage-II, and an E-admit card will be issued. Stage-II of candidates shortlisted for CGEPT-01/27 and CGEPT-02/27 batches will be held conjointly. To download E-admit cards, candidates are required to upload additional documents as mentioned in para 7.5 and select a preferred date and centre in a given period. Failure to upload additional documents or submit date/centre choice within the time frame promulgated by ICG will lead to cancellation of candidature. Allocation of date and centre for Stage-II exams will be on “first come first serve” basis. Candidates will be given the option to select date and centre; date and centre where seats are available will be shown to the candidates for selection. The duration of Stage-II is 1-2 days and it involves the following examination, which are only qualifying in nature:

  • Basic Identity and Biometric Verification: All candidates reporting for Stage-II will be allowed to enter ICG recruitment centres post basic identity check at the entrance gate and further subjected to biometric verification. Candidates whose identity cannot be verified at the entrance gate will not be allowed to enter ICG recruitment centres and will be disqualified from the recruitment process.
  • Physical Fitness Test (PFT): Candidates undergoing PFT will do so at their own risk. All candidates are advised to be in possession of sports rig (Shoe, T-shirt, Trouser etc.). All four tests of PFT are carried out in continuity without any break. Any break in these tests will lead to failure in PFT.
  • Assessment and Adaptability Test: Candidates qualified in PFT will undergo an online/OMR based examination to qualify for further stages of Stage-II recruitment process. This test is qualifying in nature and the marks obtained will not be included in the final merit list. The result will be announced at the venue after the conduct of the examination.
  • Document Verification: All information provided in the online application has to match with all original documents produced by the candidate such as Class 10th/Class 12th/Diploma marksheet, identity proof (Aadhaar Card OR PAN Card OR Voter ID card OR Driving License OR Passport/Domicile/category certificate), individual subject and aggregate marks/CGPA (as applicable). The candidates will be declared either Pass or Fail in document verification. Any mismatch, inconsistency or error with the information provided in the application form, uploaded document and original documents produced for verification at Stage-II will lead to rejection in document verification. The date of issue of all documents has to be on or before the closing date of application. The validity of all uploaded documents has to be at least up to 31 December 2027. Any false declaration in the online application will lead to cancellation of candidature.
  • Recruitment Medical Examination: The Recruitment Medical Officer will assess the candidates for medical fitness as per laid down medical standards and declare them fit or unfit. Candidates who have qualified document verification will be subjected to recruitment medical examination. Candidates found medically unfit in the Recruitment Medical Examination and who wish to appeal will be immediately referred to the designated military hospital (allocated by ICG). The candidates are to report to the designated AFMS hospital within 14 days of completion of Recruitment Medical Examination. The appeal medical examination will be considered as final and the candidate will have no right for further appeal at any other or same hospital again.

Candidates declared fit in the recruitment medical examination at Stage-II recruitment centre may be disqualified in document verification during the further scrutiny of the documents by ICG, as document verification is carried out at multiple stages even after the conduct of Stage-II and prior to publishing the final merit/result.

Final Merit List for Stage-III

The merit list (zone-wise and category-wise) for Navik (GD) male and all India (category-wise) for Navik (GD) female, Yantriks, Navik (DB) and Hygienist-I will be prepared for candidates who have qualified all the Stages and meeting the requisite criteria as mentioned in the advertisement. Shortlisting of candidates for the post of Navik (GD) in either CGEPT-01/27 or CGEPT-02/27 batch will be based on order of merit and available vacancies. The candidates’ order of merit will only be based on marks scored in Stage-I, qualification in all phases of Stage-II and number of available vacancies. Assessment test marks shall not form part of the final merit but shall be used only for breaking a tie. The tie-breaking rule in merit, in case of two or more candidates having the same marks in Stage-I, is as follows (wherever tie is broken next stage will not be proceeded):

  1. Candidate older in age will be higher in merit.
  2. Candidate scoring more marks in the Assessment Test.

Stage-III: INS Chilka

Candidates who qualify Stage-I and Stage-II and stand in merit as per the vacancies available will be provisionally shortlisted for reporting at INS Chilka and will be issued a provisional E-admit card. Stage-III will be conducted separately for each cadre in the respective batch, i.e. Navik (GD) and Yantriks in CGEPT-01/27 and Navik (GD), Navik (DB) and Hygienist-I in CGEPT-02/27 batch. The duration of Stage-III is 1-2 days. INS Chilka is a Naval training establishment; verification procedure at training base is in vogue applicable for ICG candidates. Stage-III involves the following:

  • Basic Identity Check: All candidates reporting for Stage-III recruitment at INS Chilka will be subjected to Aadhaar based identity verification. Changes made in demographic details (Name, date of birth, physical appearance) in the Aadhaar during the last two years will be scrutinised. In case of any discrepancy or mismatch, candidates must submit valid supporting documents; bonafide changes may be considered upon submission of an affidavit. In case of suspected fraud or absence of valid proof, the candidate shall be liable for cancellation.
  • Document Verification: All information provided in the online application has to match with all original documents produced by the candidate. Any mismatch, inconsistency or error will lead to rejection in document verification and the candidature will be cancelled.
  • Pre-Enrolment Medicals: The pre-enrolment medical examination of all selected candidates will be done by the Recruitment Medical Officer at INS Chilka. The conduct of pre-enrolment medical examination will depend on the time gap between recruitment medical examination conducted during Stage-II and date of reporting of candidates at INS Chilka. Candidates who are found medically unfit and who wish to appeal will be immediately referred to a designated military hospital (either INHS Nivarini or INHS Kalyani) as allocated by medical authorities at INS Chilka. Such candidates are to report to the designated Military Hospitals and complete the appeal medicals within a maximum period of five working days as part of the appeal medical examination. The appeal medical examination will be considered as final and the candidate will have no right for further appeal at any other or same hospital again.
  • Submission of Documents: All candidates are to submit original documents, police verification forms and other associated forms along with the E-admit card at Stage-III. Candidates should be in possession of police verification from either place of domicile or place of present residence, which should have been obtained after last date of submission of application form. Candidates without verified police verification reports or reports with adverse comments will not be eligible for enrolment.

Stage-IV: Training Base

Stage-IV shall comprise verification/authentication of original educational and other documents submitted during Stage-III with the concerned Boards/Universities/State Government authorities. A candidate will be terminated from service if documents are reported as not genuine by the respective Boards/Universities/State Government.

ICG CGEPT Medical and Physical Standards

The medical examination is conducted by authorised Medical Officers of Defence Forces as per the medical standard prescribed in current regulations applicable to Enrolled Persons on entry.

Parameter Standard as per notification
Height Minimum height standard for male candidates is 157 cms and for female candidates is 152 cms. Height standards may be reduced by up to 05 cms for candidates having domicile of Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Garhwal, Kumaon and Sikkim. Relaxation of 05 cms is also applicable to Gorkhas. Height standards may be reduced by up to 02 cms for candidates having domicile of Ladakh, Lakshadweep & Minicoy Islands and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Chest Chest wall should be well proportioned and well developed. Minimum chest circumference for male candidates should be 77 cm with chest expansion of at least 05 cm. For female candidates, the chest should be well proportioned with minimum expansion of 05 cm.
Weight Proportionate to height and age as applicable for ICG.
Hearing The candidate should have normal hearing, i.e. able to hear focused whisper from a distance of 06 m by each ear separately.
Tattoo Permanent body tattoos are not permitted on any part of the body. However, certain concessions are permitted to candidates belonging to tribal areas communities as declared by the Govt. of India. For other candidates, permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face of forearms i.e. from inside of elbow to the wrist and on reverse side of palm/back (dorsal) side of hand.
Dental Should have healthy gums, good set of teeth and minimum 14 dental points.
General Health Candidate should be fit for the Armed forces, must conform to the medical standards, have normal anatomy without loss or deformity of any appendages, and be free from any active or latent, acute or chronic, medical or surgical disability or communicable disease, infection and skin ailments. Candidate shall be physically and mentally fit to perform duty in any part of the world, in any climate and terrain places.
Gender Any candidate if found to have predominant characteristics of the opposite gender as evident on external physical examination will be rejected as unfit. Any candidate having undergone gender reassignment surgery will be declared unfit.
Pregnancy (female candidates only) Any candidate, if found to be pregnant shall be disqualified and her candidature will be rejected.
Gynaecological Examination (female candidates only) The examination covers external genitalia, hernia orifices and the perineum. Any evidence of stress urinary incontinence or genital prolapse outside introitus shall lead to disqualification of the candidate.

  • Candidates using glasses are not eligible for GD Branch.
  • Candidates are advised to get their ears cleaned for wax and tartar removed from teeth prior to medical examination.
  • Candidates claiming height relaxation are to submit a domicile certificate to the medical officer. Failure to submit the domicile certificate will lead to non-waiver of height relaxation.
  • No waiver will be given for laid down medical standards. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) order on medical standard will be the final authority.

  1. Visit www.ssc.gov.in and follow the instructions for registration. Remember the registered E-mail ID and mobile number, as the same would be encrypted in the application form. If the candidate forgets the E-mail ID or mobile number, it would not be possible to log in to the candidate’s dashboard, and neither would he/she be able to download E-admit card or see his/her result. ICG would not be responsible for this.
  2. Abide by the guidelines for filling the application form as mentioned on the registration portal and by the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) available on www.ssc.gov.in.
  3. Apply for only one post. If a candidate fills multiple applications during a particular recruitment cycle, only the latest filled application submitted by the candidate shall be considered and all previously filled applications will be rejected. However, the examination fees for multiple applications filled will not be refunded.
  4. Upload the compulsory documents listed below, in the specified format.
  5. Pay the examination fee online (except SC/ST candidates, who are exempted).
  6. Use the print preview option before the final submission of the online application to check that all details (such as Name, Date of Birth, Parent’s name, subject wise marks/CGPA, validity date of documents and category certificate details) are correct.
  7. Candidates will also be provided with an edit/correction window for a duration of 02-03 days to edit/correct only a few fields in the online application. Candidates are to use the edit window when provided to correct mistakes made while filling the online application.

ICG CGEPT Apply Online: Compulsory Documents at the Time of Application

  • Passport size recent colour photograph (should not be older than three months prior to the date of opening of application) as per the specifications mentioned on the registration portal.
  • Live image of the candidate, captured during registration.
  • Candidate’s scanned signature image.
  • Date of Birth proof (Class 10th marksheet OR Birth Certificate).
  • Identity proof (Aadhaar Card OR PAN Card OR Voter ID card OR Driving License OR Passport).
  • Service Certificate/NOC if the candidate is serving ICG Personnel or civilian.
  • A valid Domicile Certificate to determine the zone of candidate for zone-wise recruitment for all candidates applying for the post of Navik (GD) male. In states where both certificates, i.e. Domicile and Resident certificates, are issued, only the Domicile Certificate will be accepted.
  • Candidates applying for the post of Navik (GD) female, Yantriks, Navik (DB) and Hygienist-I are required to upload a domicile certificate only if they require relaxations in medical standards viz. height.

Only scanned copies of the original documents shall be uploaded; photocopies or self-attested photocopies shall not be accepted. All documents uploaded must be in Hindi or English; if a document is in any other language, both original and English translation must be uploaded. Applications with blurred photograph, signature and uploaded documents will be rejected during document verification. The complete document is to be scanned and uploaded (e.g. if a Date of Birth Certificate or Category Certificate or Identity proof has two or more pages, then all the pages are to be merged in one file and uploaded in the online application).

SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/EWS applicants availing their respective quota must have the address in the category certificate the same as the current or permanent address mentioned in the online application. The EWS certificate shall be as per Govt. of India format. The OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate should bear QR/bar code for appointment under post under the Govt. of India and should specifically mention that the candidate does not belong to person/sections (Creamy Layer) as mentioned in relevant government orders. Additionally, OBC candidates must produce a valid and latest OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate.

Training: Basic training for CGEPT-01/2027 will commence in May 2027 and for CGEPT-02/2027 in November 2027 at INS Chilka, followed by sea training and professional training in allotted trade. Branch/trade will be allocated as per requirement of service and performance during basic training. Candidates are liable to be discharged as UNSUITABLE if their progress (including academic) or conduct is unsatisfactory at any time during training. Further, at any stage of training or service, if the online application or any document furnished by the individual is found to be falsified, the individual shall be liable to be discharged from ICG service.

ICG CGEPT Important Instructions

  • Candidates withdrawn on disciplinary grounds from any other or Government service training establishments are not eligible to appear.
  • Candidates who have been arrested, convicted or against whom criminal proceedings, investigation, enquiry or trial is pending before any court or law enforcement agency shall disclose full details of the same in the application form and at the time of document verification. Suppression or concealment of any such information shall render the candidate liable to cancellation at any stage of the recruitment process.
  • A candidate who is arrested, convicted or against whom an FIR is registered or criminal proceedings are initiated during the recruitment process shall immediately inform the Indian Coast Guard through the prescribed channel.
  • All original certificates and marksheets produced at the time of Stage-II will be returned to the candidate post verification. All original certificates and marksheets produced at the time of Stage-III will be retained by ICG if cleared Stage-IV or returned to the candidate post verification if declared fail.
  • The candidate’s selection pertaining to a particular batch is valid for that batch only. Qualified candidates whose names do not appear in the final merit list cannot claim admission for the next batch. These candidates will have to undergo the selection procedure afresh provided that they meet the eligibility criteria for fresh selection.
  • Applications received by post will not be accepted.
  • E-admit card for Stage-III will be forwarded only to candidates qualifying Stage-II and standing in merit as per vacancies. Such candidates will be required to reach the training establishment, i.e. INS Chilka, at their own expense on the date given on their Stage-III E-admit card. Late reporting on any ground will not be accepted.
  • No enquiry will be entertained regarding recruitment/enrolment for this batch after 31 December 2027.
  • Indiscipline activities including copying/malpractice etc. during the testing procedures will also result in disqualification. The decision of ICG will be final and binding on all candidates with regard to copying/malpractice.
  • No candidate should misbehave in any manner or create disorderly scene in examination premises. Candidates found impersonating or misbehaving will be debarred from appearing in current and future examinations of ICG.
  • Use of Mobile phones and other electronic gadgets of any kind are not permitted during examination. If any candidate is caught with Mobile, Bluetooth device, any kind of recording/scanning/hearing/capturing equipment etc. during Stage I, II and III then his candidature will be cancelled and immediately action as per law including filing of FIR will be initiated.
  • Candidates must have valid e-mail ID and mobile number for successful online registration. The communication by ICG with candidates will be only through e-mail or SMS. Candidates are directed to check their login ID and registered e-mail regularly for any change in recruitment schedule.
  • The date of birth and gender will not be allowed to be changed at any subsequent stage under any circumstances whatsoever, and the candidature will be cancelled at any stage wherever any wrong information is detected.
  • Candidates are directed to fill the category details (SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy)/EWS) as applicable with due care as no changes are allowed after submission of the application. Candidates declaring the category wrongly in the application form will not be permitted to appear as general candidates.
  • Candidates are strongly advised to apply well in time without waiting for the last date for submission of the online application form.
