Project Details
Project Title: Development of Bioinspired Hydrogel Adhesives for Minimally Invasive Internal Wound Sealing
Principal Investigator: Prof. Mukesh Dhanka, Department of Biological Engineering
Job Description
- Design, synthesize, and characterize novel polymeric hydrogel platforms for drug delivery and clinical applications
- Conduct experiments on chemical synthesis, hydrogel self-assembly, and material characterization
- Perform cell culture and microbiology studies for biocompatibility and efficacy assessment
- Develop and validate animal models for gastrointestinal wound evaluation and inflammatory bowel disease research
- Develop advanced laboratory skills in chemical synthesis and self-assembled hydrogels
- Opportunity to work on grant proposal development and inter-IIT collaborative projects
- Conduct independent research and contribute to scientific publications
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- PhD degree from a reputed institute in any of the following disciplines:
- Veterinary Science
- Clinical Biochemistry
- Chemistry
- Nanotechnology
- Chemical Engineering
- Biomedical Engineering
- Pharmaceutical Sciences
- Material Sciences or allied subject areas
Academic Performance
- Minimum 60% or equivalent grade in all qualifications from Graduation onwards
- Minimum 55% or equivalent grade in 10th and 12th standard
- Must have a good scientific publication record
- Candidates who have defended their thesis and can join immediately are equally eligible
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Expertise in chemical synthesis and polymeric material development
- Experience in hydrogel development and self-assembly techniques
- Knowledge of cell culture and microbiology methodologies
- Prior experience in developing animal models for gastrointestinal wounds and anastomosis

Salary and Benefits
Monthly Remuneration: Rs. 72,000 - 85,000 (Consolidated)
The consolidated salary includes basic pay, dearness allowance, house rent allowance, and other applicable allowances as per IIT Gandhinagar norms.
Duration
Initial appointment is for 1 year, renewable for up to 2 more years based on annual performance review and project continuation. The position is contingent upon the continuation of the funded research project.
