IOB Security Guard Eligibility Criteria 2026
- Candidate must be an Ex-Servicemen/Ex-Agniveer from the Army, Navy, or Air Force, as per the eligibility definitions in this notification.
- Candidates still serving in the Armed Forces whose Specific Period of Engagement (SPE) completes on or before 30 September 2026 are also eligible to apply.
- Character must have been "EXEMPLARY" at the time of valid discharge from the Armed Forces.
- Educational Qualification: A pass in 10th standard or its equivalent, but the candidate should not have passed Graduation or its equivalent examination.
- Candidate must be able to speak, read and write in Tamil.
- Medical Standard: Minimum SHAPE-1 or AYE (whichever applicable) at the time of valid discharge from the Armed Forces.
- Nationality: Citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee (pre-1962), or a person of Indian origin migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India, subject to conditions.
Important: Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), Disabled Ex-Servicemen (disabled during operation or otherwise), and Dependants of Servicemen killed in action are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply for this recruitment.

Duties include security and surveillance of Bank premises, operating security gadgets (CCTV, DFMD, HHMD, access control systems), maintaining fire alarm and fire-fighting equipment, and working in shifts including night shifts.
IOB Security Guard Selection Process 2026
Selection is in three stages: Online Objective Test, Local Language (Tamil) Test, and Physical Fitness Test.

2. Local Language Test (Tamil)
Conducted separately for a maximum of 20 marks. The overall cut-off scores for General and Reserved category candidates in the Online Test and Local Language Test will be decided by the Bank based on candidates' performance.
3. Physical Fitness Test (100 Marks)

- Push-Ups/Sit-Ups: 30+ reps = 30 marks, 21–29 reps = 25 marks, 15–20 reps = 20 marks, 14 or below = Fail.
- 1 km Run: under 4 min = 30 marks, 4–5 min = 20 marks, 5–6 min = 10 marks, over 6 min = Fail.
- Candidates must compulsorily pass each of the four Physical Fitness sub-tests with the minimum prescribed marks; only one attempt is allowed per sub-test.
- Candidates must submit a medical fitness certificate (not older than 15 days) from a Civil Assistant Surgeon or above, prior to the Physical Fitness Test.
- The Physical Fitness Test will be conducted at IOB Central Office, Chennai.
Selection Criteria: The final merit list is drawn by adding marks from the Objective Test, Local Language Test, and Physical Fitness Test, prepared category/reservation-wise. Merely meeting the eligibility criteria does not entitle a candidate to be called for the Online Test or Physical Fitness Test.

- Read the detailed advertisement carefully and click "Apply Online" for the post.
- Register online by clicking "Click here to Register Online"; note your Registration Number and Password sent via email/SMS.
- Upload your scanned photograph, signature, live photo capture, left thumb impression, and handwritten declaration as per the specified format and size.
- Fill in all required details in the online application form carefully; ensure names match your certificates exactly.
- Click "COMPLETE REGISTRATION" and take a printout of the submitted application form for your records.
- Submit the application on or before 14 September 2026.
Important: Only online applications are accepted; no other mode will be entertained. If a candidate uploads more than one application, only the latest one will be considered. There is no application fee for this recruitment.

Ration Card and Learner's Driving Licence are not accepted as valid ID proof for this process. All documents must be produced in original along with a self-attested photocopy; failure to do so may disqualify the candidate from further participation.
Important Conditions
- Only candidates willing to work in shifts (24x7x365) should apply.
- Pre-Examination Training is available (free of cost) for SC/ST/Minority Communities/Ex-Servicemen candidates at Chennai; travel, boarding and lodging expenses must be borne by the candidate.
- Candidates serving in Government/Quasi-Government/PSU/Nationalised Bank roles must produce an original NOC from their employer at the time of interview/selection stage.
- Candidates found using unfair means, impersonation, or canvassing will be disqualified and may be debarred from future Bank recruitment, in addition to facing criminal prosecution.
- Appointment is provisional and subject to medical fitness, and satisfactory verification of character, antecedents, and caste certificates (wherever applicable).
