KVAFSU Teaching Recruitment 2026 - Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions as on the last date of submission of application i.e. 20-06-2026. Candidates of Veterinary Science must possess and upload a valid registration of Karnataka Veterinary Council / Veterinary Council of India. Separate applications must be submitted for different positions. Knowledge of Kannada is mandatory for all posts - candidates who did not study Kannada at SSLC level must qualify a Kannada language test (max 150 marks, minimum 50% to qualify; standard of first language Kannada at SSLC level) before being called for interview.

Ph.D. degree in concerned/Allied Subject as notified by the university with published work of high quality - minimum 10 research publications in NAAS rated/UGC listed journals. 4. Knowledge of Kannada mandatory. 5. Minimum score as stipulated in prescribed score card. Minimum 10 years of Teaching/Research/Extension experience in University/College as Assistant Professor/Associate Professor and/or research at equivalent level; out of which 2 years in the cadre of Associate Professor (pay band Rs. 1,31,400–2,17,100) is mandatory.
Associate Professor (Rs. 1,31,400–2,17,100) 1. Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science/Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry/Dairy Science/Fisheries Science of respective discipline from SAU/SVU/Deemed University or recognized university. 2. Assistant Professor (Rs. 57,700–1,82,400) 1. Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science/Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry/Dairy Science/Fisheries Science of respective discipline from SAU/SVU/Deemed University or recognized university. 2. Master's degree with minimum 55% marks (50% for SC/ST) or equivalent CGPA in concerned/Allied subject as notified by university. 3. Must have cleared NET in concerned subject conducted by UGC/ICAR/CSIR, or similar test accredited by UGC (SLET/SET); OR awarded a Ph.D. as per UGC Regulations 2009 or 2016 with NET exemption. 4. Knowledge of Kannada mandatory. 5. Age limit applicable (see Age Limit section). No specific minimum experience required; however, NET/Ph.D. qualifications must be fulfilled. (MSVE 2016 Regulations: Preference shall be given to candidates who have qualified NET conducted by Agricultural Scientist Recruitment Board for Veterinary Science subjects.)

NET Exemptions for Assistant Professor:

Ph.D. Registered prior to July 11, 2009 Exempted from NET/SLET/SET subject to fulfillment of conditions: (a) Ph.D. awarded in regular mode; (b) Thesis evaluated by at least two external examiners; (c) Ph.D. viva voce conducted; (d) Two research papers published from Ph.D. work (at least one in a referred journal); (e) At least two papers presented in UGC/ICAR/ICSSR/CSIR sponsored conferences. These conditions must be certified by the Registrar or Dean of the concerned University - mandatory certification.

KVAFSU Teaching Recruitment 2026 - Age Limit

Age limit is applicable only for Assistant Professor posts. Age is calculated as on the last date of submission of application i.e. 20-06-2026. No age limit has been specified for Professor and Associate Professor posts in this notification. Age relaxation for in-service candidates and other categories shall be considered based on the relevant orders of Government of Karnataka in vogue.

KVAFSU Teaching Recruitment 2026 - Application Fee

Application fee is to be paid online after successful submission of the application form. The fee is non-refundable. Separate application along with registration fee must be submitted for each post applied for. Incomplete applications and applications without payment of prescribed fees will be rejected.

After successful payment, the candidate may download a receipt of the submitted application - this receipt must be printed and submitted to KVAFSU during physical verification of documents.

KVAFSU Teaching Recruitment 2026 - Selection Process

Shortlisting of candidates shall be governed based on Prescribed Qualification, Score Card and Guidelines for Direct Recruitment of Teachers (No:R/KVAFSU/ACM-CA/Teaching SCD/2025-26 dated 12.11.2025) and Score Card as prescribed under Annexure 1-3 as per guidelines of KVAFSU available on KVAFSU website. Mere eligibility will not entitle any candidate to be called for interview - applicants having higher qualification and merit will be given preference. Good Academic Record for all teaching positions shall be as defined in the KVAFSU Score Card.

Stage 1 - Application Scrutiny and Score Card-based Shortlisting

All online applications will be scrutinized for eligibility. Shortlisting will be based on Academic Score as per the prescribed KVAFSU Score Card (Annexure 1-3). Only information submitted online - including uploaded relevant documents and details of research publications entered in the online application - will be considered for determining eligibility, Academic Score allocation, and shortlisting. No additional claims or documents will be considered during original document verification.

Stage 2 - Kannada Language Test (if applicable)

Candidates who did not study Kannada as a first, second, or third language in SSLC or equivalent qualification must qualify in a Kannada Language Test (one paper, maximum 150 marks, minimum qualifying marks 50%, standard of first language Kannada at SSLC level) before being called for interview for any teaching post (Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor).

Stage 3 - Document Verification

Shortlisted candidates must submit self-attested copies of certificates and marksheets from Matriculation (10th Standard) onwards, reprints of publications, and certificates in support of their research score along with 3 sets of hard copies of the application form during physical verification of original documents.

Stage 4 - Interview

Candidates clearing document verification will be called for interview. Provisional selection list preparation shall be in accordance with the Karnataka Act No. 1 of 2019.

Who should NOT apply for KVAFSU Teaching Recruitment 2026?

  • Candidates who do not hold a Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science/Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry/Dairy Science/Fisheries Science from an SAU/SVU/Deemed/recognized university - degrees from other disciplines are not eligible.
  • Candidates who have not secured at least 55% marks in their Master's degree (50% for SC/ST) - sub-55% Master's degrees do not meet the essential qualification threshold.
  • Professor applicants who do not hold a Ph.D. in the concerned/Allied subject with at least 10 research publications in NAAS-rated/UGC-listed journals - this is a hard essential qualification for the Professor post.
  • Associate Professor applicants without a Ph.D. and without at least 7 NAAS-rated/UGC-listed publications and 8 years of relevant teaching/research experience.
  • Assistant Professor applicants who have not cleared NET (UGC/ICAR/CSIR/SLET/SET) and do not have a Ph.D. that qualifies for NET exemption under UGC Regulations 2009 or 2016 - both conditions are mandatory unless subject falls under NET-not-conducted category.
  • Candidates who are not willing or able to qualify in the Kannada language test (if they did not study Kannada at SSLC level) - without this test, they cannot be called for interview.
  • Assistant Professor applicants who have crossed the prescribed age limit (40 years for General, 43 for 2A/2B/3A/3B, 45 for SC/ST/Cat-I) as on 20-06-2026.
  • Kalyana Karnataka Cadre applicants who do not belong to the Kalyana Karnataka region - these posts are exclusively reserved for local candidates of the Kalyana Karnataka region.
  • Candidates who were previously selected in KVAFSU teaching recruitments but did not join - if they apply again and fail to join after selection, they will be made ineligible for all future KVAFSU recruitments.
  • Veterinary Science candidates who do not possess a valid registration with Karnataka Veterinary Council/Veterinary Council of India - this is a mandatory requirement and must be uploaded with the application.

Common mistakes / What to check before applying KVAFSU Teaching Recruitment 2026?

  • Not submitting separate applications with separate fees for each post applied for - a single application does not cover multiple posts; each post requires its own online application and fee payment.
  • Not entering all research publication details in the online application form - only information submitted online will be considered for Academic Score; uploading publications is not mandatory but original publications must be produced at document verification.
  • Uploading thumbnails or invisible/unclear documents - such documents lead to rejection of application; all uploaded documents must be clearly readable and visible in JPEG/JPG/PDF format within 500 KB each.
  • Not carrying the application fee receipt for physical document verification - the receipt downloaded after payment must be printed and submitted to KVAFSU during physical verification.
  • Kalyana Karnataka region candidates opting for and getting appointed to Residual Cadre posts - such candidates must note they will not be eligible to claim Article 371(J) reservation benefits during their entire period of service.
  • In-service candidates not attaching the in-service certificate form from their respective controlling officer (Competent Authority) when claiming age relaxation - applications will be summarily rejected without this certificate.
  • Not submitting Rural Quota certificates (Form-1 & 2) and Non-Creamy Layer certificate when claiming Rural Quota reservation under GM and 2A/2B/3A/3B categories - these are mandatory.
  • Submitting an application without the conversion certificate for CGPA-based grading (if applicable) - without this, percentage equivalence cannot be verified.
  • Closing the browser abruptly before completing the application submission and fee payment - candidates should wait until both steps are properly completed.
  • Not checking all uploaded documents for visibility and clarity before final submission - no changes are permitted after submitting the application form.

How to Apply for KVAFSU Teaching Recruitment 2026

Candidates must apply online only through the Recruitment Portal on the KVAFSU website www.kvafsu.edu.in. No other mode of application will be accepted. Applicants must first register on the Recruitment Portal, after which they can fill up the prescribed online application form. Separate applications with separate registration fees must be submitted for each post applied for. After successful submission, the fee payment link will appear - fee payment must be completed for the application to be valid. The eligibility of the candidate will be determined as on the last date of submission of application i.e. 20-06-2026.

  • Valid registration of Karnataka Veterinary Council / Veterinary Council of India (both sides if expiry date is on back; signature and expiry date must be clearly visible) - for Veterinary Science candidates
  • Certificate for 371-J (Kalyana Karnataka) category as per proforma prescribed by Govt. of Karnataka vide Order No. DPAR 43 HKC 2013 - issued by Assistant Commissioner only
  • Rural Quota certificate (Form-1 & 2) issued by Competent Authority in prescribed format (if claiming Rural Quota)
  • Non-Creamy Layer Certificate from Competent Authority (mandatory for Rural Quota under GM and 2A/2B/3A/3B categories)
  • Medical Certificate from District Medical Board/appropriate authority (for Physically Challenged candidates)
  • In-service certificate from controlling officer/Competent Authority (for in-service candidates claiming age relaxation)
  • CGPA/SGPA to percentage conversion certificate/chart/formulae (if applicable)
