The Madhya Pradesh Karmchari Chayan Mandal (MP ESB), Bhopal, has released the rulebook for the Group-3 Sub Engineer, Cartographer, Laboratory Technician and Other Equivalent Posts Combined Recruitment Exam 2026 (समूह-03 संयुक्त भर्ती परीक्षा-2026). This is a combined competitive exam conducted by MP ESB on behalf of multiple Madhya Pradesh government departments to fill Group/Class III technical posts such as Sub Engineer, Cartographer, Laboratory Technician, Technical Assistant, Surveyor, and Mineral Surveyor. Eligible candidates can apply online at esb.mp.gov.in from 18.08.2026 to 01.09.2026.

The recruitment covers 13 technical streams - Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Fashion Technology, Architecture & Interior Designing, Modern Office Management, Hotel Management, Agriculture Engineering, Textile Design, Automobile Engineering, and Refrigeration & Air Conditioning - with posts spread across nearly 90 government offices and departments in Madhya Pradesh. MP ESB Sub Engineer Important Dates

The exam will be conducted in two shifts per day: the first shift reporting time is 07:00 AM to 08:00 AM (exam 09:00 AM–12:00 PM), and the second shift reporting time is 12:30 PM to 01:30 PM (exam 02:30 PM–05:30 PM), with important-instructions reading time of 10 minutes before each shift.

MP ESB Sub Engineer Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must hold the educational/technical/professional qualification prescribed by the concerned demanding department's own departmental recruitment rules, as on the date of submitting the application. This qualification is specified by each department in its demand letter sent to the Board and varies by post code and technical stream (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Computer Science, Electronics & Telecommunication, Fashion Technology, Architecture & Interior Designing, Modern Office Management, Hotel Management, Agriculture Engineering, Textile Design, Automobile Engineering, or Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineering).

Candidates must indicate their post preference (priority) while applying. If a candidate qualifies the exam and is recommended by the Board but does not fulfil the appointment criteria prescribed for that post, their candidature for that post will be rejected and they will be eligible for transfer/consideration for other eligible posts, with full responsibility resting on the candidate.

Note: Educational qualification/other certificates are not verified by the Board at the time of filling the application - verification is done by the concerned department during the appointment process. Eligibility in the computer-based online exam is therefore entirely provisional.

MP ESB Sub Engineer Age Limit

Age is calculated as on 1st January 2026 for all posts under this combined Junior Service (Combined Eligibility) exam.

• No age relaxation is admissible for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates as per the applicable General Administration Department circular.
• Age relaxation for physically disabled/ex-servicemen candidates is as per Government of Madhya Pradesh orders issued from time to time.
• In no case will the maximum age limit, after including all applicable relaxations, exceed 45 years (except contract employees and categories specified under Rule 14).
• Additional incentive-based age relaxation of 5 years is available for candidates rewarded under the Inter-Caste Marriage Incentive Scheme, and for sportspersons honoured with the Vikram Award, as per applicable General Administration Department memoranda.
• All candidates must have a live registration with the Madhya Pradesh State Employment Office to be eligible for these posts.

MP ESB Sub Engineer Application Fee

The examination fee structure is as follows:

In addition to the exam fee, candidates applying online through a kiosk must pay an MP Online portal fee of ₹60/-, while candidates applying through a registered citizen login pay a reduced portal fee of ₹20/-.

MP ESB Sub Engineer Exam Pattern & Syllabus

The recruitment exam consists of a single online (computer-based) objective-type question paper of 200 marks, divided into two sections.

The Part B technical paper is assigned by stream, with each stream identified by a paper code and mapped to specific post codes as per the rule book:

Note: Candidates applying against Post Code 88 may appear for the paper of either Civil (Paper C) or Architecture (Paper G), as per their subject. The result for Post Code 88 is prepared by combining the percentile scores of candidates in Paper C and Paper G; if a candidate has appeared in both papers, their result is prepared using the higher percentile score obtained across the two.

MP ESB Sub Engineer Selection Process

Selection is based on performance in the single computer-based online exam described above. Only candidates securing the minimum qualifying marks are included in the merit list of successful candidates - 50% for unreserved category candidates, and 40% for SC/ST/OBC and Divyangjan candidates (with up to a 10% relaxation from the unreserved cut-off). EWS candidates are also given a 10% relaxation in minimum qualifying marks, though final selection from the EWS category list is made strictly on merit.

Being included in the merit list does not by itself confer a right to appointment. Appointment depends on: a demand being raised by the concerned department/undertaking for the vacant post; the candidate's name being forwarded to the demanding department; the candidate fulfilling all eligibility criteria prescribed by the government/Board for appointment; and the department issuing an appointment order in the candidate's favour.

2. Register/login and fill the online application form for the "Group-3 Sub Engineer, Cartographer, Laboratory Technician and Other Equivalent Posts Combined Recruitment Exam 2026" between 18.08.2026 and 01.09.2026.
3. Indicate your post preference/priority carefully among the available post codes and technical streams, as post-priority changes are not accepted after the correction window closes.
4. Ensure a live Aadhaar registration, as Aadhaar registration is mandatory for candidates.
5. Pay the applicable exam fee online, plus the MP Online portal fee (₹60 via kiosk or ₹20 via registered citizen login).
6. Use the correction window (18.08.2026 to 06.09.2026) to fix any errors in the submitted application.

MP ESB Sub Engineer Important Instructions

• Aadhaar registration is mandatory for all candidates; multi-level biometric verification is mandatory at the time of exam entry and during the exam, and Aadhaar must be unlocked at the time of biometric verification.
• Candidates must carry an original photo identity proof (Voter ID, PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, Driving Licence, or Passport) to the exam centre; e-Aadhaar is valid only if verified through UIDAI. Candidates without a valid original photo ID will not be allowed to sit for the exam.
• Candidates will be allowed entry into the exam room only until the specified reporting time; late candidates will not be granted entry.
• Use of electronic devices such as mobile phones, calculators, log tables, digital watches, sunglasses, and any unfair-means material is strictly prohibited in the exam room.
• Candidates must safely retain their online application number, as the admit card can be obtained only through it.
• Candidates must bring a black ball-point pen and their downloaded admit card to the exam hall.
• No candidate will be permitted to leave the exam room between the start and end of the exam.
• Any technical error causing delay in the start of the exam will not disadvantage candidates - full time will still be provided to attempt the paper.
• The Board's role is limited to conducting the exam and providing results to the concerned departments; the entire responsibility for the appointment process rests with the respective department.
• Candidates from Madhya Pradesh's special primitive tribal communities (Baiga, Sahariya/Saharia, and Bharia) applying for non-executive posts under the Scheduled Tribe category must send their applications with all required documents directly to the concerned department in hard copy (Format-2 of the rule book) rather than to the ESB, by the application closing date; applications sent to ESB in such cases will not be considered valid. Where the department's post is executive in nature, no exam exemption applies to these communities and they must apply online as Scheduled Tribe candidates.
