NCL Recruitment 2026: Minimum Qualification Required

Mining Sirdar, T&S Gr. C

Option 1:

  • Matriculate or equivalent examination from any recognized Board of Examination.
  • Valid Mining Sirdarship Certificate of Competency issued by DGMS under Coal Mines Regulation 2017, or any other certificate in Mining entitling the applicant to work as Mining Sirdar as per Coal Mines Regulation 2017.
  • Valid Gas Testing Certificate.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate.

Option 2:

  • Matriculate or equivalent examination from any recognized Board of Examination.
  • Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering from any recognized Institute.
  • Valid Overman Competency Certificate issued by DGMS under Coal Mines Regulation 2017, or any other certificate in Mining entitling the applicant to work as Mining Sirdar as per Coal Mines Regulation 2017.
  • Valid Gas Testing Certificate.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate.

Surveyor, T&S Gr. B

Option 1:

  • Matriculate or equivalent examination from any recognized Board of Examination.
  • Valid Surveyors' Certificate of Competency (SCC) granted under Coal Mines Regulation 2017, or any other certificate in Mining entitling the applicant to work as Surveyor in Mines as per Coal Mines Regulation 2017.

Option 2:

  • Degree or Diploma in Mining/Mine Surveying Engineering from any recognized Institute.
  • Valid Surveyors' Certificate of Competency (SCC) granted under Coal Mines Regulation 2017, or any other certificate in Mining entitling the applicant to work as Surveyor in Mines as per Coal Mines Regulation 2017.

The prescribed minimum/essential qualifications are the minimum requirement; candidates possessing higher and relevant qualifications may also apply. Qualifications acquired through distance learning/part-time study or their equivalent will not be considered.

NCL Recruitment 2026: Age Limit

Candidates must have attained a minimum age of 18 years as on the Crucial Date (05-08-2026), and age must not exceed the upper age limit of 30 years on the Crucial Date, subject to relaxations below.

NCL Recruitment 2026: Reservation

  • Reservation of SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Centre List/EWS/ESM will be applicable as per Government of India rules, guidelines, notifications, and amendments from time to time.
  • The total number of vacancies and reserved vacancies are tentative and may vary according to actual requirements.
  • SC/ST/OBC (NCL) candidates applying against Unreserved (UR) posts will not be eligible for relaxation in age and minimum qualifying marks, and will be treated at par with Unreserved candidates for selection (application fee exemption is still applicable for SC/ST candidates in such cases).
  • Candidates seeking reservation must submit valid requisite certificates in the prescribed proforma issued by the competent authority.
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Centre List candidates must ensure their caste/community certificate is valid and they do not fall in the creamy layer as on the Crucial Date.
  • SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/EWS candidates selected on their own merit without relaxed standards will not be adjusted against reserved vacancies; they will be accommodated against unreserved vacancies.
  • Ex-servicemen who have already secured Government employment in Group C & D posts on regular basis after availing ESM reservation benefits are not eligible for ESM reservation and fee concession again, subject to conditions in OM No. 36034/1/2014-Estt.(Res) dated 14/08/2014.
  • EWS candidates must submit a valid Income & Asset certificate issued by the competent authority as per OM No. 36039/1/2019-Estt(Res) dated 31.01.2019, based on gross annual income of Financial Year 2025-2026.

NCL Recruitment 2026: Application Fee

NCL Recruitment 2026: Selection Process and Exam Pattern

  • Eligible candidates meeting minimum eligibility criteria as on the Crucial Date must appear for a Computer Based Test (CBT). Selection is based on relative CBT score.
  • Candidates are allowed to appear in the CBT solely on the basis of their declaration of eligibility in the online application form. Scrutiny/verification of eligibility claims is done only after CBT results are declared, and only for candidates who clear the cut-off marks.
  • CBT is conducted separately for each post, carries 100 marks, and is of 90 minutes duration in one sitting.
  • Section A: Technical knowledge (discipline-related), 70 MCQs.
  • Section B: General Knowledge, General Awareness, Reasoning, Verbal & Mental Ability, and Quantitative Aptitude, 30 MCQs.
  • Each question carries 1 mark; there is no negative marking for wrong answers, and no marks for unattempted questions.
  • The question paper is bilingual (English and Hindi); in case of ambiguity, the English version is valid and final.
  • The CBT will be held at Test Cities as mentioned in the online application form; candidates may opt for their preferred city, which cannot be changed after submission.

Candidates who score equal to or above the cut-off will be notified for scrutiny/verification of testimonials, in order of merit position, up to the extent positions remain unfilled. NCL Recruitment 2026: How to Apply

  1. Log in to the official NCL website using URL www.nclcil.in > Career > Recruitment > Employment Notification for Direct Recruitment of various Statutory posts > Apply Online.
  2. Read the complete Employment Notification carefully (available in English and Hindi) to assess your eligibility.
  3. Candidates other than SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/Departmental Candidates must pay a non-refundable application fee of ₹1180/- through the online facility.
  4. Upload the scanned photograph, signature, and all required documents as specified in the notification.
  5. A candidate can apply for only a single post against this Employment Notification.
  6. Verify all details (Date of Birth, Category, Contact Details, Qualifications) carefully before final submission, as no correction is possible after submission.

Important Instructions

  • Selected candidates could be posted at any NCL Mine/Establishment and are liable to be transferred to other Coal India Limited subsidiaries during service.
  • Appointment is subject to candidates being found medically fit as per CIL's Medical Examination Rules.
  • SC/ST candidates called for CBT will be paid up to IInd Class Non-AC fare as per rules, subject to submitting the TA Claim format with required enclosures.
  • No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in CBT, scrutiny/verification, or joining, except as provided in the notification.
  • Court of Jurisdiction for any dispute will be the Honorable High Court of Jabalpur, M.P.
  • In case of any ambiguity, the English version of the Employment Notification will be considered valid.
  • Candidates must have an active email ID and mobile number valid for at least the next one year, as all correspondence will be through these or the NCL website.
