NESAC Recruitment 2026 covers three categories of temporary positions across various scientific disciplines. Below is the post-wise breakup along with the number of vacancies and the scheduled interview date for each post code.

NESAC Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates often ask what minimum academic percentage is required for NESAC Recruitment 2026 - the notification specifies fixed minimum aggregate marks or CGPA for postgraduate and graduate degree holders across all posts.

• M.E./M.Tech degree holders need a minimum aggregate of 60% (average of all semesters) or a CGPA/CPI of 6.5 on a 10-point scale or equivalent grade, from a recognized university.

2. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), conducted by MHRD/Ministry of Education
3. Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM), conducted by MHRD/Ministry of Education
4. Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) and Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology & Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS), conducted by the Department of Atomic Energy
5. All India Competitive Examination (AICE), conducted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research

JRF08, JRF09, and JRF10 also require a valid NET/GATE or equivalent qualification in the relevant field, as specified against their respective essential qualifications.

NESAC Educational Qualification Post-Wise

• Research Scientist: First Class M.Sc./M.Tech/M.Sc.(Tech) or equivalent postgraduate degree in the relevant discipline (Geology, Computer Science, Disaster Management, Environmental Science, or Atmospheric Science, depending on post code), along with one year of research/work experience in the specified field. A Ph.D. in the relevant field is considered desirable experience for most Research Scientist posts.
• Junior Research Fellow: First Class M.Sc./M.Tech or equivalent postgraduate degree (or B.E./B.Tech for certain computer science posts) in the relevant discipline, along with a valid NET/GATE or equivalent qualification.
• Project Associate-I: First Class M.Sc. in Botany/Forestry/Environmental Science or equivalent discipline, along with a minimum of one year of experience in plant identification.

NESAC Age Limit 2026

The maximum age limit for NESAC Recruitment 2026 is calculated as on the date of interview and varies by post category, since Research Scientist, JRF, and Project Associate-I posts have separate age ceilings.

Age relaxation of 5 years is available for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates. Ex-servicemen and Persons with Disabilities are eligible for age relaxation as per Government of India orders, and candidates claiming any relaxation must submit valid documentary proof. Tenure of NESAC Temporary Positions

All positions under NESAC Recruitment 2026 are purely temporary and project-based, with no provision for regularization at any stage.

• Research Scientist: Initially engaged for one year, extendable up to a maximum of three years in total (or co-terminus with the project, whichever is earlier), based on performance in periodic reviews.
• Junior Research Fellow: Initially engaged for one year or the project period, whichever is earlier, extendable up to a maximum of five years or the project duration, whichever is earlier.
• Project Associate-I: Initially engaged for one year or the project period, whichever is earlier, extendable up to a maximum of five years.

Appointment to these posts does not confer any claim or right to regular employment at NESAC, and services can be terminated at any time without prior notice and without assigning any reason.

NESAC Salary and Pay Scale 2026

Junior Research Fellows and Project Associates-I are eligible only for casual leave, while Research Scientists are eligible for leave as per the institution's rules. Important Instructions for NESAC Recruitment 2026

• No request for change of interview date or venue will be entertained.
• No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
• Candidates must make their own arrangements for stay, if required.
• The interview may extend beyond office hours or to the next day, and candidates should be prepared to stay accordingly at their own expense.
