Who Can Apply

Essential Qualification

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in any Science discipline (B.Sc.) or a 3-year Diploma in Engineering & Technology from a recognized University/Institute/Board with a minimum of 55% marks.

Desirable Qualification and Preferences

Candidates possessing a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology (B.E./B.Tech.) or a degree in Civil, Mechanical, Mining, or allied disciplines may be given preference based on their suitability for the project requirements and performance in the selection process.

Desirable Experience & Skills

• Experience in field data collection, or other research related field activities.
• Basic proficiency in data entry and data handling using MS Office and MS Excel.
• Willingness to undertake field visits and travel to project/study locations as required.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in English and Hindi.
• Ability to interact effectively with research teams and industry personnel.
• Experience in maintaining field records, organizing collected data, and supporting research/project documentation is desirable.
• Interest or prior exposure to research projects will be an advantage.

Age Limit & Relaxation

The upper age limit for applying is up to 50 years. The age limit is relaxed up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, PwWD, and Female applicants, whereas 3 years in the case of OBCs (Non-creamy layer candidates). The upper age limit shall be reckoned as on the last date of receipt of applications.

Pay and Tenure

Selected candidates will receive a consolidated remuneration of Rs. 27,000/- per month plus HRA as applicable per ANRF norms. The appointment will be for 1 year initially and the tenure will be extended based on satisfactory performance. The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the ANRF-PAIR project (up to 13-October-2030) and does not confer any right or claim for regular appointment at NIT Rourkela.

NIT Rourkela Field Assistant Job Description

The Field Assistant will be responsible for the following duties and key responsibilities:

• Support Junior Research Fellows (JRFs) and the Co-Principal Investigators with day-to-day operational logistics, experiment setups, and report drafting.
• Assist the Co-Principal Investigators' research team in field visits, surveys, sample/data collection from mines and nearby industries, laboratory and experimental activities, maintenance of field records, and other related work as assigned.
• Conduct and coordinate field visits, surveys, data/sample collection, and other project-related field activities.
• Assist in planning field schedules and managing on-site logistics for surveys and data-collection campaigns.
• Perform data entry, compilation, verification, and preliminary processing/cleaning of collected data.
• Maintain systematic and accurate field records, survey forms, databases, photographs, and other supporting documentation.
• Assist the research team in laboratory/field experiments, sample handling, measurements, or related technical activities, wherever applicable.
• Coordinate with industry and project personnel during field activities.
• Provide logistical support for project meetings, workshops, training programmes, awareness activities, and other project events.
• Submit regular field updates and collected information to energy and environmental project teams.
• Undertake travel to project locations as and when required.
